I sat there looking at Colton's face, but he showed no emotion. He looked out at the crowds of people, and sighed. I laid  my back against his shoulder, and picked away at my sandwich. He was so cute and funny. But of course he was my best friend. I traced his hand with my finger but he didn't notice. He was too caught up staring at the crowd. He was so critical. Every day he would pick apart the people's appearances like they were shit. " do u wanna come over after school? He asked not losing eye contact.
'When?'
'Umm...6:00?'
'I guess'

He turned to me, and we linked arms and stared over the crowd. He twirled my curly bangs around his finger making them bounce up. I could see his fascination. He had never showed any emotion towards me, but I never did either. It was just our relationship. I heard the bell ring and he grabbed my hand pulling me out of the room. Let's go to English.

We walked through the hallway and sighed. Many people were just sitting at their lockers. They were probably just lazy, but still. Everyone was always late to class. As I sat down at my desk, and pulled out my English book, I saw students filling into the room. The class always started late because no one ever cared to come on time. As I saw the teacher looking around the room, I followed her gaze. My eyes set on Colton. He was staring at my feet and tracing my shoes with his eyes. His white polo was undone at the top, and his vest was snug around his torso. His blonde hair was ruffled up in an endearing way, and his eyes shone like fire. I had always been his bestie, but that didn't change anything. Our 'just friends' relationship was stronger than ever. As the teacher droned on, I sighed. This would take forever. I spent the rest of the class staring at Colton. He never even looked over.

I arrived at his house and he invited me in happily. As we sat on the couch together, we talked about the summer. We didn't have any huge plans, but camping. He was going out with some friends to Hornby Island. I on the other hand had no plans but thinking about him. When I heard that he was to be gone, I tried thinking of something else. He was gone for a week but it seemed like it was going to be an eternity. That Island was weird. I knew there was something up with him since last year he went there. He became distant. Last time he went he didn't tell me what happened. I always wondered. He was different and scared of life. I just didn't understand. Whatever happened last time better not happen again.
