Hurts Like Heaven - Prologue

He had been ten.

Ten when he had watched his parents get murdered right before his eyes. Ten when everything he ever cared for had been taken from him, when he had been left alone. He had seen how his father had been stabbed when he tried to fight them off and how his mother had her throath slit.

The only survivor had been himself. He had hidden behind one of the cupboards. He had stayed behind it, even as his parents had died and the murderers had left he had stayed in his hiding place.

When he had been alone for what felt like forever before he had suddenly heard steps. Steps that were heading towards his hiding place. Believing that the murderers were back for him he had panicked. As soon as the steps had been close enough to his hiding place he had jumped out and tried to dash towards the exit.

His attempt to escape had however been cut short when the person had grabbed a hold on his clothes before snaking an arm around his waist. He had tried kicking, biting and clawing to get the man to let him go but it had only resulted in him getting exhausted.

"Relax kid. We are not going to hurt you. That is it, relax." The man had spoken softly and he had found himself going slack in the man´s grip.

"What is going to happen to me?" He had asked in a whisper, afraid of the answer. He heard the man hum as he thought of his question. As the man thought he took the chance to look around in his house.

Everything looked exactly as it should, nothing had been moved or taken. The cupboard he had hidden behind was untouched, as was the sofa and the tv. The only thing out of place was the man holding him and the other man, who he noticed now, that was kneeling down beside something.

He already knew what it was. He could see the red of the blood that was laying in a pool around the body of his mother. He shuddered as he looked at it.

"You know it is okay to cry kid." He head the man holding him murmur and he nearly laughed. He knew that it was okay to cry and that he should have been crying. However it seemed that there would not come any tears. He wondered if it was something wrong with him, any person should have cried because of this, yet he did not.

In fact, he did not feel anything. No sorrow, or pain or even horror. The only thing he could really feel was anger, anger and hatred. He wanted revenge, he wanted to destroy those who had done this and he would do it.

"I know, I just can´t." He spoke back to the man, his voice unusually stable for a ten year old. Suddenly a thought struck him and he said."Who are you?"

"We are assassins." The man spoke and the boys head lifted and turned a bit to look at the man. Assassins, people who killed other peoples. He wondered if he should be afraid but he mentally shook his head at the thought. If they would have wanted him dead he would have been dead.

"Was it one of you who did this?"

"No, it was an enemy of us." The man spoke as he eyed the boy he was holding with interest. He was surprised. The boy showed no sign of any sort of emotion, the only thing he could see was tiny specks of anger and hatred in his eyes but nothing else.

"Take me with you." He heard the boy speak and he smiled. The boy wanted to become an assassin. If it would have been anyone else asking he would have said no. But there was something with this boy. Something in the way his eyes shone up with a tiny glimmer of hope as he looked up at him.

He knew that the boy had potential. He could see the determination in his eyes.

"Alright. But first, what is your name kid?" He said and the boy smiled at him, a smile that didn´t reach his eyes.

"My name is Louis, Louis Tomlinson."
