It was dark and cold. With his hands tied behind his back, he pushed his body into a sitting position. His only light source comes from those who peeped through the crack of the place he was in.

Sunoo was scared. Everyone would be scared if they were in his shoes right now. Before he let the fears take control, he took a deep breath and forced himself to relax.

   He needs to escape.

He tried to loosen up the rope around his arms, but it was futile.

Tied up in that cold, cramped up dark place, Sunoo couldn’t help but blame himself.

Deep down, he knew. He knew it wasn’t his fault.

…But what if he listened to Sunghoon.

What if he took his words seriously.

Everyone was trying to hurt him, trying to keep him away from the latter that he was the only one who cared enough and could keep him safe.

If only he were honest to the man. He would know about Park Joonwoo.

He regretted hiding the truth from Sunghoon.

If he knew, he would already save him from this nightmare.

Is this karma? For hurting Sunghoon? For lying to him?

Thinking about the man, he remembered how Sunghoon begged him to stay, how his usual gentle voice cracked as he tried to stop him from walking away.

Tears fell on his cheeks, and he bit down on the gag around his mouth.

He never realised how cruel he was to Sunghoon. He never understood why the man chose to stay with him.

Sunoo took a deep breath through his runny nose.

    He shouldn’t cry.

   He mustn’t cry.

   He doesn’t deserve to cry.

While trying to collect his emotions, he heard the car slowly slowing down before eventually stopping on its track.

He heard the sounds of waves hitting the shore and someone getting out of the car. His fight-or-flight instinct heightened.

He prayed that the person wouldn’t come to him because he knew he would be helpless.

   Then he heard a gunshot.

Whatever is happening out there, he doesn’t want to be involved.

All he could do was pray for his safety. Hoping that God would take pity on him.
Then he heard someone unlocking the padlock of the place he was in.

There was a knock on the door.

Jungwon got up from his seat to open the door. He was greeted by Inspector Choi and Jay, who were holding Sunghoon’s laptop.

The two entered the room and went straight to the business.

“Give me my laptop,” Sunghoon said, not sparing them any greeting. He wants to search for Sunoo as soon as he gets his laptop.

Jay couldn’t look him in his eyes.

He was the one Sunghoon entrusted to find Sunoo in his stead— but he failed.

“Sunghoon-ssi, I’m embarrassed to say this, but we don’t have enough lead to find Mr Kim,” Inspector Choi said.

Sunghoon ignored him and stared at the laptop screen.
