Chapter 4

"Miss Winters Dr. Brown is ready to see you," the lady from the attendance told me. I trudged to his office and opened the door immediately putting a fake smile on my face. Trying to hide how scared I was, from what I've heard in the hallways he isn't the nicest guy around.

"Hello, Ms. Winters. It's so good to finally meet you," Mr. Brown said. What the actual fuck.

I'm sorry for Ms. Alvarez, she can over react a little bit. But enough about her how has you day been? Do you like the school?"

I seriously am doubting what the kids say in this god damn school. It is a little weird how nice he is.

"It's been good. The classes are pretty easy to find, I just hope I make some new friends fast." I added quickly.

My terror was slowly fading away. What I had thought he would be is the complete opposite of who I'm talking to now.

"That's good, I hope you find friends too. The students are very nice, once you get to know them" He said.

He smiled. But not any smile. The sympathetic eye crinkling smile, weird. Right then and there I really took in his features.

He had perfect blinding white teeth and a rather large nose with a mole on the side. He had light brown hair, just like his name, with white highlights. He had relatively small ears and he wore a white button down shirt with the school logo on the left side.

"Uh, yeah, I hope." I told him truthfully. I realized I was staring at him, so I quickly looked at the picture with some horses on his wall.

"You know what? There's only three hours of school left" what? We've been talking for that long? "I'm going to let you leave now, and it won't appear on your grade book. You seem tired" he chuckled to himself. That was strange. "Thank you so much Dr. Brown." I added before he gave me the slip.

"Please call me Doug," He replied, I almost lost it. His name is Doug brown. I've literally never heard such a funny name.

Doug

Brown

He gave me a yellow pass to give to the office secretary so I could leave early.

"Thank you Dr.-, Doug" I opened the door and gave the slip to the lady with a smile. Before I completely left the office I heard him say, "We may have a problem-". I left the office and skipped to my locker. I only had one page of Algebra homework that I could do in my sleep. I opened my locker and there was a white envelope with my name on it, I put it in my bag with my laptop and got my wallet from the back of my locker. I locked my locker, and made my way to the exit. I needed something to wake me up, so what other place than Starbucks? I got my phone and looked for the closest Starbucks. There was actually one only five minutes away.

I ordered a regular coffee with hazelnut drizzle, and sat down on the plush couch. I opened my bag and put my wallet away, and took out the envelope. I took a sip from my coffee, and ripped open the envelope. I half expected it to be from Doug, but he would have given it to me when we were talking. So, I literally had no idea what to expect. I ripped open the envelope and unfolded the letter.
