Chapter 6:

The night of his patrol as Cat Noir felt like a dream to him. Passing by as a naucious blur, his head was spinning on an imaginary swivel. When he forced himself out of bed and put weight on his right leg, it was numb. It felt like his leg had fallen asleep or was temporarily paralyzed. It stung a little as he walked. "Ugh why do we have to get up for school today?" complained Plagg. "I'm so sore from last night.". " Hey what about me? I was the one that got shot in the leg." said Adrien. "With electricity, just be glad you didn't lose it." said Plagg. "I have to go to school today. I'll just walk it off." said Adrien. "Ha walk it off, nice timing on the joke." said Plagg. "You too, come on." said Adrien. "No thank you." said Plagg. Adrien held out a piece of cheese, "On second thought I'll just hang out with you for a while." said Plagg. "Uh huh." said Adrien. As he walked to school he replayed last night in his head. The cinema in his head had pushed play and rolled the film.

It was a quiet evening. He looked out his bedroom window. "Alright time to get to work, Plagg claws out!" said Adrien. He transformed into cat noir and began his night patrol. He leapt across the buildings with the city of lights as his guide. He gazed over at the museum crime scene. He tried calling Ladybug on his staff, no answer. "I guess I'm by myself tonight." said Cat Noir to himself. He scoured the buildings and the streets left and right. There was nothing but the stars and the city. He perched himself on a window sill and observed the police crime scene. "I'd better go talk to the police and see what's up." He said to himself. Cat Noir jumped down from the window sill, landing on his feet. A police officer spotted him. "Hey it's Cat Noir. " greeted The police officer. "Are you here to help us out?". " Yeah I'm just doing a night patrol. Thought I might give you guys an extra hand." answered Cat Noir. "We could use the extra help. Interpol has been all over this case and strange pieces of evidence has been found. They don't want us in on the case but I managed to see one piece of evidence." said the police officer. "And I have to say it was the weirdest evidence that I've ever seen.". " What was it?" asked Cat Noir. "Nah you might think I'm crazy for saying this." declined the police officer. "I'm a cat themed superhero, I'm sure you can't get any weirder than that." said Cat Noir. " Well alright." said the police officer. He showed him a small clump of hair. It was a light purple color. "It was found under a piece of rubble from the wall that was bashed in. When it was taken to the lab for testing. It came up as dog fur." said the police officer. "Dog fur?" asked Cat Noir. "At first I thought it was a joke. But then after more tests, the results were the same, dog fur.". " That is weird." said Cat Noir. "Listen don't tell any of the other guys that I showed you this please? They'll think I'm crazy." asked the police officer. "No problem officer, you're secret is safe with me." smirked Cat Noir. When the policeman turned back to the crime scene, Cat Noir looked back up at the rooftops for his exit route he saw a small flash of grey and black on a rooftop by a water tower. He squinted and saw nothing, not even with his night vision. " Hey officer shine your light up there." said Cat Noir, pointing to the water tower. The police officer did so, and there was still nothing. "I don't see anything." said the police officer. "I'll check over here.". He went in the other direction. Cat Noir thought to himself, maybe he was just tired. Then suddenly as he looked up again he saw someone running on the rooftops, he couldn't make out who it was because they ran too fast. Quickly as he could Cat Noir headed towards the rooftops and sprinted after them. The figure was in the distance and swiftly stayed to the shadows. His night vision wasn't doing him any good, but then he noticed a second shadow figure running behind the first one. " Darn it! Which one?" said Cat Noir. " Ok who's closer?". The second shadow figure was closer to his position than the first one. He decided to go for the second one and ran towards the left. The figure noticed him running behind and began sprinting. Cat Noir followed the figure down five blocks until he finally managed to catch up and trip them with his bow staff. Before he could get a good look at their face the figure shot back up from the ground and kicked the bow staff out of his hands. The figure pointed a gun of some sort directly at his face. "Hands up!" said the figure. The voice sounded oddly female. "Why don't you show yourself and then we'll talk." said Cat Noir. She fired a warning shot, only it wasn't a bullet, it was electricity. "Estúpido! I almost had him!" She snapped. "I was right behind that ring-tailed scoundrel. Foolish human.". " Wait what? Who are you?" asked Cat Noir. She showed herself. He rubbed his eyes in disbelief. He couldn't believe what he was staring at. It was a fox. She wore a police badge around her neck, a yellow crop top jacket, a navy blue crop top underneath, brown boots, and navy blue pants. Her hair was a dark sapphire blue and it was big and curly. Suddenly it hit him on who she was, he remembered her from the comic. "Interpol inspector Carmelita Montoya Fox." She said. "Woah, the Carmelita Fox. You're real?" said Cat Noir astounded. "How do you know who I am?" asked Carmelita, not pulling the gun away. "Hey easy I'm on your side." said Cat Noir putting his hands up. "Really that mask says otherwise." said Carmelita. "You humans sicken me especially since you impersonate us as if it's a joke. ". " What you've never seen a superhero before?" asked Cat Noir. She growled in rage. "Look I think we got off on the wrong foot here." said Cat Noir as he moved around, Carmelita never took her gun off him and followed his footing. Almost like she's done this before. "Let me introduce myself, my name is Cat Noir. " continued Cat Noir. "I don't want any trouble and I'm not here to hurt you.". " I'm not that easily tricked human." said Carmelita. "Hey if you think about it we're on the same side. You work for the police and I'm a superhero during the day, maybe we can work something out." said Cat Noir. She still pointed the gun at his face but one thing he was certain of was that she never fired. Not yet anyways, to Cat Noir this meant that she was listening.

He tried to keep things as cool as possible. "The only person I work for is myself and the badge." said Carmelita. "Interpol has enough trouble than dealing with the likes of you.". " I don't know what your talking about, Interpol likes superheroes. I could help you navigate the human world." offered Cat Noir. "Real heroes don't hide behind masks and dress like my kind." said Carmelita. "I would've had you arrested but I have bigger problems.". " Like the museum robbery?" stated Cat Noir. Her eyes widened a little. "You're investigating the robbery aren't you?" He asked. She said nothing. "Listen I mean you no harm. I can help you maybe we can work together." He reassured. "The best thing you can do, human, is stay out of this case." said Carmelita. Suddenly she fired a shot at his leg. "Aaaghh." cried Cat Noir. The electricity surged and he swore it was turning numb. When he looked up from gripping his leg, she was gone. "Man someone has trust issues." said Cat Noir to himself. Limping his way back he thought of what happened. Carmelita Fox, the idea of seeing her there and in front of him, face to face. With the evidence of dog fur from the scene, and his encounter with Carmelita, somewhere in the back of mind said that if she was real, then Sly Cooper really was involved with the robbery.

As Adrien put weight on his leg he winced in pain but decided take it easy walking up the steps. He knew the controversy between the others about the robbery would continue today, but after what he witnessed from last night, now he wasn't so sure of who's side he was really on.
