300 READS?!? I NEVER would have expected this to happen!! I can't thank you guys enough for reading this!! You all mean so much! <3 <3
"What exactly did you guys do out there?" Fitz raised an eyebrow at them suspiciously after they came back inside.
"I was just telling Sophie how good of a singer she was. But I'm assuming you probably already complimented her on it," Keefe lied. Blush colored Fitz's cheeks when he realized he didn't compliment her. Sophie decided to play along with Keefe's lie. The plot was simple, keeping Fitz distracted from the real reason they were outside.
"Oh, it's okay Fitz. I wasn't that good." Sophie didn't usually like playing the victim, but she needed to keep Fitz as distracted as possible. She cast her eyes down ward and twirled her wavy blonde hair around her finger.
"No, Sophie, you were amazing. And while you were gone, Biana thought it would be fun to do a dance. So... I was wondering if you wanted to dance with me?" Fitz asked. Shoot. How is she supposed to tell Fitz she wanted to dance with Keefe, without him getting suspicious of them again? Luckily Keefe made the decision for her.
"She'd love to, I'll see you guys later," Keefe placed Sophie's hand in Fitz's and then left. Sophie didn't have to be an empath to feel hurt radiating off Keefe. He was always so self sacrificing. Even when she didn't deserve it.
She was surprised to feel that there really was no electricity between them. It was like holding Dex's hand, or Biana's. No romantic feelings at all. But if Fitz noticed this he didn't say anything, he just pulled her onto the dance floor.
Biana was dancing with Tam, and she was blushing wildly. Linh was dancing with Wylie, and Keefe was in the back of the room. Sophie felt terrible for leaving him like that, especially after their magical kiss.
Have A Merry Little Christmas was playing. Fitz was good at dancing, but Sophie couldn't help but feel like she was betraying Keefe. Finally after the song ended Sophie couldn't take it anymore.
"Could I dance with Keefe? He looks really lonely over there."
"Why?"
"Well... He doesn't have anyone to dance with so..."
"Fine. But make it quick," Fitz rolled his eyes and left.
"Yes!" Sophie whispered. She raced over to Keefe and grabbed his hand, "You're coming with me!"
They raced onto the dance floor, All I Want For Christmas Is You was playing.
Keefe wrapped a hand around her waist, and Sophie cradled his neck as they danced. Sophie couldn't help but sing. Keefe joined in, and their voices connected in perfect harmony. They danced and danced. Just them. It felt like time had stopped for everyone else except for them, and their faces slowly got closer and closer, until their lips were just inches apart. The song ended and Keefe and Sophie shot apart laughing.
"Maybe we shouldn't reveal ourselves just yet?" Sophie giggled.
"Probably not. I'd hate to ruin Fitz's Christmas," Keefe agreed. Marshmallow World started playing, and Keefe and Sophie kept dancing.
Sophie forgot all about Fitz. She was only thinking about one pair of eyes today. Ice blue.
30 minutes later...
Sophie was still dancing with Keefe, Biana was dancing with Tam, Linh was dancing with Wylie, and Marella was dancing with Fitz. (Idk why I ship Farella but I feel like their personalities compliment each other well) Dex was wandering around the room and stealing hidden glances at Biana. Sophie could tell he wanted to be the one in Tam's place and she felt horrible about it.
"What's wrong?" Keefe asked, sensing her emotions.
"Just look at Dex. He looks so sad and alone over there, and he doesn't have anyone to dance with. I just feel so bad," She sighed.
"Me too, but don't worry Dex will find someone soon," Keefe reassured her.
"Yeah, okay."
Sophie turned her attention back to Tam and Biana. She watched as they swayed to the beat, Biana looking so happy and carefree, and Tam was actually smiling. Smiling. Sophie wished the Christmas could last forever. But all good things eventually come to an end.
Sophie turned her attention back to Keefe. He looked sad or maybe worried, "What's wrong?" She asked.
"I'm just worried that... I won't be able to be as good of a boyfriend as Fitz was," He said softly, looking deep into her brown eyes.
"Do you need me to say it again? You are my number one priority," She whispered.
"And you are mine."
"Besides, Fitz wasn't that good of a boyfriend anyway," She giggled. He smiled warmly, and stroked her hair as she leaned her head on his chest.
They swayed to the soft melody of the music, and Sophie didn't even care if Fitz was watching her.
AHHHHH I loved writing this! It was a nice break from all the depressing nightmares and terrors Keefe had to go through. He's the best 🥺😥
