The night had been peaceful, and for the first time in weeks, Jason had finally been able to sleep. Jason worked as a police officer and often did undercover work as well as his normal duties so it wasn't uncommon for him to have very little sleep. Jason often spent his nights looking at the corkboard he had in his small apartment trying to piece clues together, a string of murders had befallen the city of L.A and well it had left the people terrified and in need of reassurance that the police would catch this serial killer and these murders also left the very police crew stumped. The criminal underworld was something everyone knew about in L.A but very few people knew how to find the people who were a part of this "underworld" but one thing for sure was that Jason had a theory that these murders had ties back to a Mafia Family that practically owned and ruled over the city of L.A and well no matter how many times Jason tried to tell his squad about this theory that these killings were most likely done by the Mafia given how clean the murders were, no matter how many times he told his theory no one believed him... but they didn't believe him out of fear that he was right... and they feared that if they targeted this Mafia family then they too would end up as victims, people that everyone would soon forget.
Jason was fast asleep in his apartment finally being able to sleep but even in a pleasant sleep he was haunted by the countless victims that were piling up, that was until his phone ringing woke up the police officer... tiredness took over him as he rolled over and grabbed his phone to answer it. Before Jason could even speak to whoever was on the other side of the phone he simply heard
"Office Matthews, we have another one"
it was the voice of something from his precinct and well Jason knew what had happened, he groaned softly as he just got to sleep in weeks and now that sleep was ruined so he spoke up with a cold and tired tone
"alright i will be there soon, text me the address" he spoke as he hung up the phone.
Jason knew another murder had happened... it seemed the killer wasn't going to rest, but simply what did this killer want?. Jason had many ideas on why these killings were happening, maybe it was to taunt the police... maybe it was someone who had a grudge against the officers for any amount of reasons, or maybe this was to simply just strike fear in the entire town, honestly the possibilities were headless in Jason's head.
The man got dressed and grabbed his badge and gun as well as anything else he might have needed... When he was just about to leave Jason felt his phone vibrate so he checked his phone to see that his fellow officer had sent him the address of their lastest murder, and well Jason was confused... he recognised the address, it was that of a hotel that he had frequently visited when he felt sorry for himself and needed a drink... the rooms might have been expensive but the booze was very much worth the money he spent, that was until he had been forced to quit drinking if he wanted to keep his job... a job Jason, unfortunately, couldn't lose. The tall man sighed as he left his apartment and got into his run-down car... Jason had to keep his job as he had no money and could hardly make ends meet, Jason hated his life... everyone had it better than him and yet he gave and gave and got nothing in return... he worked an ungodly amount of hours to help catch criminals and keep the people safe, he defended his team out in the fields... Jason did everything he could for his squad and bosses and he didn't even get a thank you... hell, Jason hardly got much of a paycheck either because he was deemed not important and that he should be thankful the chief of police even kept him on the force when he had his horrible drinking problem... Jason was stuck in life and he hated it.
