"Happy Birthday to you! Honey, cut the cake but remember, blow the candles out first" Dad says as he holds unto Mom's hand. They're both starring at me as I seat at the tip of the table. Reaching out for the knife I blow out the candles. "What did you wish for honey?" Mom asks while biting her lip. Suddenly, everything goes dark. "Is the power out? Should I go check?" Dad asks and stands up, hesitating he sits back on his chair.

Dad flashes me a smile and hands me the serrated knife. "Aren't you gonna turn the power back on?" I I ask. Dad presses his fingers over his lips to shush me. "Cut the cake dear. It's your birthday, isn't it?" Mom says but her head is in a weird position. I reach out my hand to cut the cake and cut a very thin slice. Blood-blood? A red thick liquid is pouring out of the cake? "Is this melted velvet?" I questioned. Neither Mom nor Dad answer me, their heads are rotating at all angles. How is that even possible? "Mom! What's going on? Stop it!" I attempt to scream but I'm voiceless, I'm only mouthing words but no sound is coming out. "Perhaps, you cut the cake again!" Dad says. His voice is muffled and it's terrifying! The table is flooded with blood but I try to cut another slice. My hands are shaking and I have goosebumps all over. "Breathe Mary, breathe" I tell myself.

"Cut the cake!" Mom screeches and my head hurts.

"I- I can't!" I say, my voice is back now. Instantly, Mom grabs the knife and stabs my neck!
