Chapter 1 - The Miracle Man

* Alexis's Pov *

I was sitting in the alley that I called 'home'. I used stuff that people threw out, like my clothes. I took them from an orphanage. But my alley took alot of work, I dragged a couch from the dump across down the street along with five cushions and I got a few blankets from a couple that saw me and felt bad. Fuck them, I don't need there pitty. I can survive on my own, hell I've been doing it since I was five. I don't need anyone besides my dog and best friend Fangs. She's a german shepard and husky mix. When I barely started on my own she hunted squirrels and stuff for food, but now that's what I do, but I don't always eat rodents and stray animals. The best part of my alley is it's between a weapon shop and a restaurant/Starbucks. And the owners of both of them were friends of my parents so I get what I want for free. I used wooden boxes and blankets and some metal that I found to make a make-shift house where mine and Fang's couch along with our cushions were.

I was about to go to sleep on the couch when I heard someone yell my name."Alexis. Your foods right by the door when you want it", I ran to the back door right as Sebastian, the employee that feeds me every once and awhile put the food down. " Thanks Sebastian" I said grabbing the plate and running back to my 'house' at the back of the alley. When I got there a ripped open the container they put it to find a steak along with some fruit. I ripped the steak in half and threw it to Fang, she caught it in mid air. I laughed and ripped right in to the steak. Since I was human my teeth were not as sharp as Fang's which meant I couldn't rip open squirrels like she could so I sharpened my teeth to be like hers, so I basically had the teeth of a dog. After we eat I called Fang up on the couch with me, she was a big dog but we had a bigger couch so we didn't worry about space.I snuggled up with her and fell asleep.

When I woke up the next morning my first instinct was to look around. When I saw no ome was there I went to the corner that had the clothes I took from the orphanage. I picked out a bra that was surprisingly my size a black tank top that said " Don't mess with me or you'll get it" , some black skinny jeans and some alittle run down combat boots. I was tall and stronger then other kids my age, I had to be fit to survive you now what they say "Survival of the fittest". I heard Fang whimper and I turned to see she was waiting for me at the entrance of the alley, growing up with her gave me a telepathic connectiom with her so I could tell she was hungry. " Yeah Yeah. I know let's go hunting." I said walking towards the park. When we got there I noticed that some big kids were beating up some boy. I walked over and tug on one of their shoulders. He turned to my then they all did. " What do you want" one of them sneered. " Leave the kid alone" I said growling, " Do you just growl" the leader asked " And what what type of freak has dog teeth". " I may be a freak but, I'm one that could kick you ass" I said in a confident tone. " Yeah right. Just because your tall doesn't mean your strong" one yelled. " Oh trust me, I am and even if I wasn't I have someone who could make you all run away like little babies" I said in a mocking tone," Oh yeah,who" the leader challenged. " Fangs " I said innocently. " Who's Fang's and what makes her so scarry " he demanded. " Well, why don't you ask her " I said, I whistled for her and she came growling right to my side. When they all saw her they made a run for it. I went to the kid and grabbed his hand and pulled him up. " Hey are you ok" I asked, " Yeah" he replied. " Do you got a name " I asked sassily. " Yep, and the names Adam" he said shaking my hand " Well Adam name Alexis and if you ever need help just whistle and I'll be there. If you don't mind me asking why were they beating you up " I asked cautiously, not wanting to break a boundary. " Because I used to live with stray dogs until I was adopted " he said holding his arm. I moved his arm to see it bleeding, I ran to a bush that had leaves that could heal and some newspaper that was on a picnic table. " Chew this "I commanded. He looked at my crazy " What. Why" he immediately asked. " Just do it " i replied sternly. He obeyed and after it was nushy enough I put it on his scar that they gave him and wrapped it with news paper. I examined it and nodded at him to tell him it's good " That should help it heal and make sure you don't get a infection, but you might want to change it to something else later because it only lasts a few hours" I informed him, I then smiled at him showing my sparkly white canines. " What's up with your teeth " he asked curiositly " Not to be rude or anything " he quickly added. I explained to him my life then he told me his. I learned that he was 13, a year older then me and that we liked alot of the same stuff. We were talking until a girl around my age ran up to Adam and hugged him, then looked at me with a disgusted look. " Adam who is this " she said looking me up and down. " Haliey this is my new best friend Alexis, Alexis this is my friend Hailey " he said looking between us. I didn't like the way she flirted with him and hugged him, even though I barely knew him I grew a little crush on him, but I was happy that he completely ignored her flirting and just acted friendly. I heard someone call their names and Adam ran off, keeping his arm close to him, Hailey stayed for a minute and said " I appreciate you helping him but back off , he's mine. He doesn't need to be around a freak like you ". She walked off ,I just stared at them leave until I felt something nudge my leg, I look down to see Fangs with two squirrels hanging from her mouth. I apologized to her and we walked off because it was getting dark.

When we got there all my house was gone, I walked through the front door and saw Matthias, anotjer one of the employee's but he was like my big brother. I walked right up to him and I noticed he was talking to someone, a man about 6'0 ( just go with it ) with medium sixe frizy black hair with briwn eyes with glasses. I ignored him and walked right infront of Matthias. " Where is my house" I asked irratated, " Hey I'll explain it in a second but two things first. 1.) I was just talking to my friend Mark" he pointed to the man with the brown eyes " before you rudely interrupted me and 2). No dog's allowed. " he said sternly. " Well firstly, I don't care if you were talking to brown eyes over there and second Fangs is not leaving, so I suggest you tell me what happemed to my house or I'll give you two options." I replied. They looked at me confused " I could bite your hand like I did with James, or I'll use me machete that I got from Bill to tear this place apart and trust me...... I've been waiting to use that machete. " I finished. Matthais's friend Mark finally spoke up " Wait that guy James that used to work here, what happened to him I heard a animal bit his hand off". " Well let's just say he got me back and my teeth are Really sharp " I said casually, showing off my teeth licking them with my tongue. He stared at me in disbelief " YOU bite his hand off " he asked. You just nodded and walked out of the restaurant and into the alley. I saw they left my clothes and some blankets and the cushions so I grabbed a old backpack I found a while ago and put all my stuff in it. We walked to the park bench and fell asleep.

When I woke up I was on the park bench with Fangs under the bench, I got up and we went for a walk. We walked around the park when all of a sudden Fangs ran forward and jumped on someone, knocking them over. I tan to see who it is and I saw Mark with Fangs on top of him growling. " Fangs Down " I yelled, she got off him and I helped him up. " Hey, your that kid who ' house ' disappeared " he said, making finger quotes around house. "Yep, sorry about yesterday I was tired and we didn't get a good kill, just some squirrels. But anyway names Alexis " I blabbered, then shook his hand. " Well Alexis, where's your parents " he asked. I looked down and mumbled quietly ao he didn't hear me. " Say that again please" he asked putting a hand over his ear. " I said , I don't have parents I live on my own" I said louder. He looked at me with a concerned face before suggesting that I live with him. " It's ok. I don't want to intrude" I said but he insisted and I gave up. He walked me to his car, I looked at it but didn't get in, Mark noticed and looked at me " Come on get in " he said opening his door. " I don't know how, Matthias told me never open a door besides the weapon shop and the restaurant " I said staring at the car. He rolled his eyes before walking to my side and opening the back door for me. I quickly got in and Fangs followed.
