The Merge, The Rival, The Deal

(Y/N POV)

"What do you mean the classes are merging?" i said to our school principal Mrs Song as she broke the news to both of our classes at the end of our last class of the first week back at school from summer.

"Well, Ms Hong since Mr Kim's retirement, Class A are left without a teacher for a while so i thought why not merge the two top classes until i find a proper replacement." she said with a cheerful smile on her face.

"What about the ranking's" My rival from the past few years spoke up sounding just a distraught as i am.

"No need to worry about those ranking Mr Wen, the shall stay the same except now there is more of you to compete against" she said once again with that irritating smile as if this was a great idea.

"I think it's a great idea" my idiot of a brother said looking at me with a menacing grin on his face clearly only saying this as he knows how much this actually means to me.

"I mean now we can be in the same class sis" he said pretending to get excited over this thought, clearly trying to get a reaction out of me.

"Oh piss off Josh, this is a disaster" i said running a hand through my hair in frustration.

"Why so bothered? You scared that I'll win the 1st ranking instead of you this year" Jun spoke up with an overly confident smirk smeared over his face, over the years Jun and I have had a mutual need to be better than the other. If he go a B in a test then i would have to get an A to best him. Other than my parents id say that Jun is my biggest motivation to do well in my studies i know that if i don't get 1st ranking then not only will i be disappointed with myself but also my Mother and Father will be too. Although they are strict on me when it comes to school work they act the opposite to Joshua, letting him doing anything and everything he wishes without even asking about it. I do find myself getting jealous over Joshua and our parents relationship they seem to care more about his personal life than academic life. Their relationship with me being the opposite

"Not at all Jun, just worried that you'll be too embarrassed to show face again after i beat you" i speak back.

"Yeah, as if Hong" he said rolling his eyes. The rings of the bell start going off soon after our small encounter.

"Okay that is enough, this is going to happen weather you like it or not starting by next Monday, now go home and enjoy your weekend everybody!" Mrs Song wrapped up leaving us to pack up our things to go. I started to grab my bag and book after telling Wonwoo and Joshua not to wait to walk home with me as i planned on visiting the schools library to get extra notes in for each subject as i had a lot more to work for this year.

As i was just walking into the library i noticed a certain brown haired boy sitting at his usual table nearest the back with textbooks scattered around him.' Looks like we had the same idea' i thought to myselfas i walked towards the table in front of his which just so happens to be my usual spot to study. Setting my things down on the table i see Jun's head lift as he finally noticed my presence, i see that stupid smirk of his start to creep up onto his face once again and i just knew that he would have something to say.

"Need catching up already" he said turning his head back to his work.

"Not as much as you do clearly" i said referencing the dozen books thrown along the table top.

"Please we both know I'm already favourite to win the 1st ranking this year" he said turning completely away from his work standing up to slowly move his way towards where i stood.

"Well, we both know that's not going to happen" i said taking a step in his direction challenging him. To this we were both stood with less than a foot between us, as i am slightly shorter than him i got to see his face from a different angle than i had before, i noticed all his tiny skin imperfections which didn't even matter as he had a pretty handsome face regardless. I soon snapped out of this thought as soon as he began to speak breaking my train of thought.

"What do you say we make this more interesting?" he said looking down to me raising his eyebrow and still wearing the smirk from before.

"And how do you suggest we do that?" i say.

"How about we place a small bet, you some how get 1st rank then i will give you enough money as you need to pay for your last year at this school" as Jun said this i tried not to let my jaw drop as he said his price. My family had been having some financial issues and there have been talks of me having to drop out of school. Jun's family however are incredibly rich so of course he would have this much money left lying around.

"Before you mention it Joshua may have let it slip about the issues you guys are having with keeping up with school tuitions" he said before i could even get a word out.

"I-i appreciate the offer but i don't want to be your charity case Jun"

"Well that's only if you win, which i doubt very much sweetheart" he said, i roll my eyes at his last comment but also not allowing myself to let a blush appear on my cheeks.

"What if you win" i said wanting to know what exactly i was getting myself into.

"Well then you'll have to do whatever it is i ask for" he said with a cocky smile obviously feeling confident about the whole thing. I thought about the odds for a moment taking in everything he had said to me. But in all honestly it doesn't seem like a bad deal and i am definitely going to be getting the 1st rank this year so why not get my year paid for me.

"Alright, deal"
