A loud gasp was let out of my mouth as I woke from my nightmare. As I frantically try to catch my breath, I searched all over for my phone. Once I finally felt the cold screen, I quickly pulled my hand up and texted Josh, asking if he was okay. Upon receiving no answer, I assumed he was asleep. After successfully calming myself down, I stare at the phone in my hand, rereading my messages and just waiting for something to happen...
'seen'
Why isn't he answering me? It's been several minutes since he opened my messages, even longer since I sent them. It was so unlike him.
I began to panic again. I quickly climbed out of bed and slipped on my shoes, beginning my rather short journey down the hall to Josh's room.
I knocked quietly on his door.
"Josh, are you okay?"
After once again receiving no answer, my breathing sped up slightly and I began worrying my bottom lip with my teeth.
"Josh?"
I reached down to jiggle the handle, checking if it was unlocked. My panic grew as the door opened with a click, no lock to stop it.
"Josh?" I repeated, turning on the light so I could get a better look at the empty room.
I began snooping. I was looking for anything to show that he was here. I let out a soft gasp when I saw his phone sitting on the desk in the corner of the hotel room, lighting up every few seconds as a new message notification popped up at the top of the screen.
"Josh, this isn't funny."
I quickly made my way to the bathroom door, stopping in front of it and peaking into the crack to see a dark bathroom, the only light coming from the dimly lit bedroom that I stood in.
"Are you in here Josh?" I asked as I pushed the door open, simultaneously taking a deep breath to calm myself.
As I stepped in, I froze in my place as my eyes landed on Josh's glowing red ones.
"What the fuck?"
This shouldn't be possible. This isn't possible. Eyes aren't supposed to be able to glow.
"Nick, what are you doing here?" Josh asked in a rough and hoarse voice.
As he opened his mouth to speak, I couldn't help but notice the rows of pointy teeth lined up in his mouth.
"Oh my fucking God, Josh,"
I didn't know what the fuck was going on, and before I could try to figure anything out, I was pushed to the floor by Josh, his rough, calloused hands holding my own above my head.
"I asked what you were doing here, Nick," he grumbled out.
"I was just coming to check on you," I mumbled, internally fearing for my life as a beast hovered over me, drool spilling out of his mouth and onto my chest.
"Josh, what are you?" I spat out, fear evident in my voice.
"This is why I didn't want you to find out. You're scared of me, aren't you?" I could see the insecurity in his eyes.
"I'd be insane to not be scared of you. But... Josh," I began, moving my wrist out of his grasp and reaching up to cup his face. "I know you. You're not gonna hurt me... Right?"
His eyes softened and he gave me a small, closed mouth smile.
"Of course not, Nick. You're everything to me,"
I felt my face heat up, even if it was a strange scenario, I've always dreamt up Josh saying something like that to me. I looked up into his still glowing eyes and smiled.
"Josh... Can I- can I kiss you?" I asked shyly, my blush deepening when he leaned down close to my face.
"No." He said loudly, a sinister laugh following after.
"Josh-" I was going to apologize before my cheek was met with the piercing feeling of his claws digging into my skin.
"What the fuck, Josh?" I yelled, blood running down my face.
Josh looked at me hungrily as he backed away from me, raising his hand to strike me again.
"JOSH!" I screamed, blacking out immediately after feeling a sharp pain across my face.
TBC... maybe
