"Beverly." A voice whispered in the silent night above my ear, before I turned my back to ignore the figure.

"Bev." She called out again, Ayesha's distinctive voice disturbing my sleep as she begins to shake my shoulders.

"Bee!" Her slightly raised voice shrieked, causing me to rise upright, accidentally hitting my head against the unkept rails of the bunk bed.

"What, man!" I groan, rubbing the injured spot on my forehead. "What do you want at these late hours?" To be honest, I had no idea what time it was now. Helen didn't like the idea of us keeping track of time during the day.

"I wanna pee." She whined.

Immediately, my eyes landed on the 5 year old, who was currently trying to stay in one place to hold her pee in but failed greatly as she hopped on each foot, standing in a weird position.

"Well, why didn't you go before bedtime?" I asked, still situated in bed.

"I didn't have to go then." She replied, simply. "I don't control my gut."

"Now is the right time to begin." I mumbled, sliding myself back into the bed sheets, making myself comfortable. "No no no no no no no, don't go back to bed." She panicked, tossing the sheets towards the floor.

"Why?"

"Because i need to pee." She reasoned, like it had something to do with me. I stared blankly at her, "You have to help me."

"I don't have to. You want me to." I yawned, my wasted sleep was catching up to me. "Those are two different verbs."

"Blah blah blah blah blah." She mimicked. "You still need to take me."

"Do i, really tho?" I crossed my arms, looking at the bunk above me. Obviously , I wouldn't be this mean to a 5yr old, but to Ayesha? Everyday.

"Yes." She nodded. "Otherwise I'll make you a personalised pool with its special colour." She smirked, clearly knowing the consequences of her actions. Bitch.

My shoulders dropped in defeat as i sighed heavily. "Just because Helen doesn't beat you, doesn't mean you should give invitations for her to beat me." I rolled my eyes like I always do when she pulls shit like this.

I took her hand in mine and made my way to the bathroom, at the end of the hall. "Shit." I mumbled.

"What?" The five year old asked.

"I forgot we had to pass Helen's bedroom." I whispered, hearing footsteps around the room.

We waited around, for a few minutes, until we heard the flicker of lights and the old bed squeaking from the added pressure of Helen's body, getting ready to sleep.

"I just don't understand why you couldn't go by yourself?" I said, grasping Ayesha's hand tightly as I forced her to move at the same pace i was. "You're potty trained and you know your way round this junk. Why do you need me? man."

"Because." She reasoned, looking at the ground as she tries to watch her steps.

"Because is not a sentence nor reason. Try again."

"Because I don't want to go alone." She huffed.

"I leave the flashlight next to your bed for a reason, aysh. You don't have to be scared, there is nothing that will come at you at late hours like this." I expressed, as we passed the playroom. "Just remember what I tell you, every night and you'll be fine."
