It was another boring day at Xola High School and Luna had one hand against her cheek, the other tapping away at her desk. She had no plans as of right now and had always been an outcast at school, dressing in darker colours which made her 'different' in comparison to most of the other children.

Within her, Luna held a bursting anticipation for the school bell to ring. Her eyes were focused on the clock in her classroom instead of the lesson that was playing out before her and her teacher didn't even bother trying to gain her concentration again. As mentioned before, she had nothing to look forward to but something in the back of her head told her that she certainly would soon.

Moments later, that much wanted bell rung out its short tune and all of her other classmates rushed out of the room in desperation to get home. As always, Luna was last out of class and was now packing her things away into her backpack.

When he saw Luna, her teacher cleared his throat which caused Luna to look his way almost immediately. "Yes, sir?" She said, tilting her head as if to ask what he wanted.

"I just wanted to ask you for your homework." The teacher said. "You didn't answer me when I asked for it the first time, so please give it me now." He said, holding out his hand.

Wait. There was homework? Shit.

Luna panicked and she felt a lump forming in the back of her throat. Her sudden panic caused a confused expression to appear on the teacher's face. "Are you feeling alright, Lu?" He asked, Lu being his nickname for her and it just so happened to be the one her mum used too.

"Umm...me? Yeah...I.. don't have the homework today but I will definitely hand it in tomorrow." Luna said, looking nervous as she fidgeted with the long sleeves of her oversized hoodie.

"You've told me this exact excuse for two weeks running now, Luna." The teacher said, making Luna know that he was serious.

"I know but you'll definitely have it handed to you tomorrow, I promise." Luna tried to plead with the teacher.

The teacher sighed. "I don't know...I might have to get the principal involved."

Luna was panicking even more now. Her mum was best friends with the principal and she really didn't want her mum knowing that she wasn't doing her homework. She shook her head. "No. No there's no need for you to do that, sir. It'll be handed in tomorrow!"

"Fine." The teacher groaned. "But this is your final chance."

Luna nodded and quickly rushed out of the classroom.
