(In the show some characters in this story talk in Spanish, like James abuela, but I will be putting it all in English.)

Jane stands there holding the flower in her hand. Her eager eyes look up to her abuela.

"Look at your flower Jane, look at its beauty, how perfect it is, how pure," says abuela.

"Ma," complains Jane's mom Xiomara rolling her eyes.

Abuela gives Xiomara the death stare.

"Shush ma," insists Jane.

Xiomara continues to paint her nails.

"Now crumple it up says abuela," her jaw line clenched and her eyes shrank.

Jane looked disappointed, but abided her abuela's commands.

"Now try and make it look pretty again."

Jane tried to put the petals back in place and iron out the crinkles.

"I can't," said Jane.

"This is what happens when you lose your virginity. You can never go back."

Thirteen and a half years later

The crumpled up flower hangs framed on Jane's wall.

Moaning sounds come from the bed. Jane and Michael are passionately kissing, his shirt almost coming off. He pulls himself on top of her and starts to kiss down her neck.

"We should stop," says Michael.

"I know," Jane replied.

Jane continues going invested in the moment not going to stop. She glanced up and sees her flower on the wall and she soon feels guilt remembering her promise to her abuela.

"We should stop," Jane and Michael divide.

Michael leaves to go to his job as a cop. Him and Jane kiss one last time out front.

Jane comes rushing inside.

"Turn the tv down abuela," complains Jane.

"I was letting you know it was starting."

The tv comes on, "The Passions of Santos" starts playing showing an attractive older man in his forties. It cuts to a scene of the man kissing a girl in the sunset.

"Telenovela's have ruined romance for me," says Jane. She munches down on her grilled cheese.

Xiomara stares at her daughter Jane.

"What," questions Jane.

"Nothing, eat your grilled cheese," she says.

Meanwhile, 8.2 miles, but half a world away

We see a tall light skinned, dark haired, Rafael Solano.
He wears a Louis Vuitton pink button up and stands on a balcony over looking a pool. His hotel in the distance. He used to be a playboy, but now he is a trapped husband.

"Babe," says a woman named Petra. "You alright."

"I'm fine, just thinking," he says.

"Hmm," says Petra clearly unconvinced, but not showing much concern. She lowers down and starts to unzip Rafael's pants...
