We have just arrived in Brazil and now we are in the forest of Kwatehele. The four of us, Yzra, Carlos, Sila and Nirat have come here to study a newly discovered forest.
- Hey guys! Hurry up and unpack quickly! I'm hungry, Nirat shouts.
Nirat is always hungry.
- Sure! But the tent is not set up yet! I GIVE UP! Sila complains.
Yep... Sila. He's the one who has no patience.
- Oh God, how childish are you! Let me show you how to do it, Carlos says.
Carlos is the mature one, of course. Yzra comes up to me.
- Uhhh, Callux? How are we even going to be able to find anything if they go on like this all the time? he says angrily. Yzra is my best friend and we have known each other since we were 3 years old.
- Ugh, stop arguing now. We fix the tent and the food quickly and then we start. Okay? I tell everyone.
- Yeah, okay, everyone replies back.
Soon the tent is fixed and everyone has taken out their sleeping bags and made themselves comfortable. We cook some bean soup we have with us and eat it with a piece of bread. We get dressed and prepare for the journey of discovery. 10 minutes later we are off. We stomp around in the forest full of mud, leaves and disgusting insects. Suddenly I see a snake slithering around in the leaves. I jump up and scream. It is also surprised by the scream and bites my leg. Sila, Nirat, Carlos and Yzra run up to me.
- Shit!! Are you OK? Where did it bite you, everyone asks me things.
- He is completely pale! shouts Nirat.
Yzra takes off his shirt and tears off a large piece. He ties it tightly to my leg. And then he sucks out the poison injected by the snake. He saves me. Then they put me to sleep with a tablet. A few minutes later I'm lying on the sleeping bag with everyone around me.
We have read about snakes and this one was not dangerous, not as long as the venom got out of the leg, which it did.
- So you'll just have a fever, a little headache and then you'll be fine, says Carlos.
- Yep! So now we can continue. Because it wasn't directly deadly, says Sila.
- Seriously?! Are you ok? Callux has been bitten by a snake, Yzra yells angrily.
- Excuse me?! So should we all just wait for him or? It's not our fault that Callux was bitten by a snake! Sila shouts back.
- Uh yes, we will! He's our friend, we can't just leave him alone! yells Yzra.
- You know what? Carlos says.
- What? Yzra asks angrily.
- Me, Sila and Nirat are going to continue. Callux can't stop us from discovering things so now it's up to you Yzra. Are you going to come along or not? Carlos replies.
- Traitors! Go on then! Don't come back if something goes wrong, Yzra yells.
The others take their packings and leave us. Yzra and I remain in the camp for three days. Yzra takes care of me, gives me food, and clean clothes. I am so lucky to have such a loyal friend. After the third day, we pack our things and set out on our journey. My leg is not fully healed yet but I can walk on it just fine. We walk around the forest and find many new species of animals such as birds and foxes. We go for a day and then we sleep. The next day in the morning we hear strange noises. Like someone hitting the drums hard. It comes from in front of us. . We slow down and sneak into the bush to check what sound that is. A few meters directly in front of us we see a camp with lots of Indians. They are burning food in the middle of the camp and there are also some prisoners further away who you can't see very well.
- Wait! Isn't that Sila?! Yzra whispers.
I look towards the place he points to. It's Sila! And a little further away sit Carlos and Nirat.
- What happened to them? Yzra asks.
- They must have been captured for some reason. We must save them! I answer anxiously.
- Seriously? After what they did to you? Yzra looks at me strangely.
- Yes, but just because they did something stupid doesn't mean I have to do something stupid too. Right? I say to Yzra. ANd they're still our friends.
- Yes Yes. I'm just saying, Yzra says, standing up. "Now we go and save them!"
- Shhhh, what are you doing?! Get down! They will see us! I whisper-scream .
- Uhh, too late, Yzra whispers back, pointing towards the camp.
