CHAPTER THREE – NEW INVESTIGATOR
ZOE
"Get inside." "Sit down, iha."
"Are you ready for your first day?" "I am so sorry for what happened to your father."
Estranged father actually. I had never known about him 'til he died. He was found dead inside his own house drowned in his clogged toilet bowl. Some were saying it was a suicide. But I knew, just one look at the photos that was sent to me, it was staged. My estranged father didn't take his own life.
He was murdered.
That was the reason I was here. I wanted to know what really happened to my father. The investigation was slow. Not moving. Even if I was born out of wed lock and I was abandoned by that man, just like my mother said, he was still my father and he didn't deserve to die like that. He needed closure. Justice for what happened to him.
"How's your mom?" And Chief Sierra has been my mentor when I was starting in the academy. Kaibigan din kasi siya ni mommy.
"Mom is good. She is coping well."
"I cannot believe that you will become an Inspector. You were so young the last time I saw you. Naïve and innocent. But look at you now.
"I'll try my best."
"Welcome to my team."
