paris is for lovers (II)

5:33 pm.

Taylor anxiously closes her lock screen. No texts. No missed phone calls. Just another minute passing by.

"Madame? Are you sure your partner is coming? All of the other couples have arrived and settled. The oysters take a long time to prepare, so it's important that we get started. I'd hate to waste the other students' time."

Taylor looks up from her phone. The sixty-something French woman before her looks slightly terrifying. She's gripping a steak knife in one hand and wagging a finger with the other.

"I'm so sorry," Taylor rambles. Her stomach is in fucking knots. She feels like she's in elementary school, getting reprimanded by the teacher- the thing of nightmares for a former teacher's pet. "I promise he's on the way."

"Trois minutes," the woman warns.

Taylor gives a weak thumbs up and frantically sends Adam another text. She's absolutely fuming. There's nothing she hates more than letting people down. And he knows that.

A minute later comes Adam's eventual reply.

"Have fun by yourself!" Taylor hisses under her breath. "What a fucking asshole!"

She doesn't know if she's on the verge of tears or a full-on temper tantrum, but her heart rate is through the roof. She's been looking forward to this cooking class all goddamn day and now she has to crawl back to the kitchen area all alone like a mother fucking loser.
