Carter:

She's barely conscious. She's losing too much blood. I found her on the street shortly after I heard a single gunshot. "Audrey!" I softly whisper as I gently stroke her face, hoping to get some sort of reaction. Nothing. The paramedics are on their way. She'll be okay. It'll be okay. I stare at the puddle of blood on the concrete, quickly growing larger and larger as each second passes by. They're not gonna get here in time. She won't be okay. Nothing will ever be okay.

"Audrey, listen to me. There's some things I need to tell you. Some things I've been needing to tell you for a while now, sweetheart." The tears began to fall off my face, just as the stars seemed to begin falling out of the sky.

"Sweetheart, I love you so, so much. You see, I haven't been as faithful to you as you think. Audrey... I..."

"I love you. ..." her faint voice speaks directly into my ear. She didn't even hear a word I said, but right now, I don't care. She's alive. For now, I thought. She's not going to last much longer. She doesn't have much time. She needs to know.

"I love you too, sweetheart. But there are some things that you should know. ..."

"Carter..." Audrey whispers, her breath fading out into the air above, her soul soon to follow.

My hand's on her heart, which was beating steadily as I whispered to her, and as she spoke, it quickened. Now, as I look into her eyes, I feel nothing. Her heart's not beating. Her eyes show no emotion. Nothing.

Nothing.

"Audrey? Audrey!" The sky and all the stars fall out the sky, leaving no beauty to gaze upon. Nothing is left. Audrey is gone. Who took her away from this world? Who would want a young woman so beautiful, on the inside and out, gone? She was too young. She knew too little.

She was gone too soon...
