14 - The Ruined Knight

I zipped through the Lower Stratum, easily weaving around tight turns and blitzing past monsters. The evolution I got after the incident with the monkeys got me a good boost to my speed, leaving me sitting pretty well at 631.

And once Flight hit LV9, I was zooming around even faster.

'So remind me where we're going...'

Well I've been meaning to catch up with... an acquaintance... 

That's not ominous at all.

Left.

At some point during my journey Hakuja realized that some of the areas were familiar to him, so he started leading me around the place without explaining where we were going. But, it's not like I had anything better to do, and if this is leading me closer to the entrance to the Middle Stratum,  I'm all for it.

Now that I think about it, I wonder what the others are up t--

I was about to ask him what he meant by "There", considering the vagueness of it, but when I looked ahead I figured what he meant. Straight ahead of me was a large crack in the wall, a spitting image of the entrance to the kingdom Hakuja told me about.

'So, is this...'

The Greym Kingdom.

For a moment I considered turning back, not feeling like dealing with whatever trouble would arise from entering, but I knew Hakuja would go on non-stop in my head, and that was something I dreaded even more. So, in I go...

I walked through the crack in the wall, expecting to be met with another army of monsters trying to kill me, but surprisingly there was none. And by "there was none", I mean there was absolutely nothing in the tunnel. It was completely deserted, devoid of any monsters.

'Nice Kingdom you got here, buddy...'

Something's up. Usually when anything foreign enters they flock to it like moths to a flame...

'Maybe they moved?'

I don't know enough about their behavior to deny that, so it's possible... I've got an idea.

'Okay? What is it?'

When you appraised yourself earlier, you had a skill called "Echolocation", right?

'Yeah, I'm a bat so it makes sense that I've have a skill like that. Never had a reason to use it though, mostly because I don't know what it does...'

Then appraise it...

So it's basically Detection. Alright.

'Detection?'

Another skill. For now, let's focus on figuring out how to use it...?!

All of a sudden a large figure crashed down onto the ground ahead of us.

'WHAT IN THE HELL IS THAT?!?!'

How the hell would I know?! Appraise it!!!
