Hi I'm Natalie and this is a story of how I got to where I am today.

It had been three months into the war and I woke up lost and confused. I wandered over to a nearby building and stood under the awning to get out of the cold rain. I could not see anyone close by and it was dark. I had no track of time and i was all a lone.

Once I was somewhat dry and the rain had settled down I started walking down a certain little trail hoping I could maybe find someone and figure out where my family was. I saw a truck coming my way and I tried to flag it down but it just slowed down a little. When it got close to me someone stretched out and yanked me up. That just added on to the confusion. Out of all people why would they want me?

They told me to sit there and not to say anything. I did so because I was not sure what would happen. About twenty minutes later we ended up at a gigantic building that read "The Bureau of Genetic Welfare". I got out of the truck and I was welcomed by a boy around my age named David. He introduced himself and said I did not have to be afraid that they were here to help me. I believed him. I was desperate; I had no home no family, what else was I suppose to do?

David led the way to my room. On my way there I passed many interesting things and everyone was staring at me. I passed this one sculpture that was a box with coals in it and water running through it. It was very interesting.

"Hey, David, what is that sculpture suppose to represent?" I asked.

"I'm not sure but I hear there is a BIG project they are working on." He replied.

"Who?" I asked.

But he just ignored me. We finally make it to my room after all the twists and turns of the hallway.

David turns to me and says, " This is it! Sorry it's not much but since the war we have gotten a lot of new members. Well I'll let you get settled in, if you need anything my room is right down the hall third door to the left. Since you missed dinner they said you can come get me or another member to show you they way to cafeteria."

"Thank you." I said, and in that moment I realized just how handsome he was. I knew it was crazy, I did not even know him all I knew was that his name was David and he was VERY attractive.

Since I just came out of the street I do not really have anything to put away, but I find an outfit lying on the bed. It is a blue and black t-shirt and a pair of dark blue jeans with a few minor rips. I find that I have my own bathroom as well. I take a shower, put on the clean, then just sit there and see if I could remember anything. It suddenly came to me that I was Natalie but I could not remember my last name. I remembered I was with my mom and brother and we were walking down the street when out of nowhere the sky turned green. My mom told us to go find shelter so we did. I'm still not sure where she went or what happened to my brother, Chris. Maybe David could help me find him.
