Bucky POV ~ current time

She only thought about it for only a split second. Very little hesitation before she swallowed her doubts and leapt. I reached down holding my hand out to save her planting a firm grip on her wrist tears welling involuntarily in my eyes. I couldn't let her go. I loved her.

Love. The one thing that a person would die for. That I would die for.

She looked up at me with those gorgeous eyes with a pleading look.

"Let me go"

"I can't doll"

"I know.. it's okay, I love you"

"I love you too"

My grasp on her loosened. Never had I wanted her more than that moment to stay with me for ever to stay by my side throughout the rest of my missions and to grow old with, but it had to be done.

I let go. I wish I hadn't.

She fell. It was almost like time had slowed, trying to make me more guilty than I already felt. It should have been me not her. She didn't deserve it. No I did, I'd done horrible things. Killed innocent people. She was another one of those people now. Someone I loved dearly and I killed her.

Seeing that she was so close to the end now I stared in horror. What had I done. She hit the bottom of the cliff with a light thud and a small scream.

For her own sake I hoped she died quickly and painlessly. It was so far to fall no one could possibly survive. She lay there motionless and if I looked hard enough I could see her glassy eyes looking up at where I held on to the top of the mountain.

"I guess we both know who it's going to be" she had said.

I wanted to do it. Hell if I could turn back time I would have never gone on any missions with her if it would have changed the outcome of this moment. But I couldn't. I had to get the stone and get back to the rest of the team to stop Thanos. I had to make her death worth it. We have to win. We have to make her proud. I have to make her proud.

I pulled myself back up onto the mountain to turn back to head back to the avengers, little did they know that only one of us would be coming back.

Hey so this is the first chapter and Ik it's short but I will be making the next one longer. Tbh it's been a while since I watched endgame and infinity war so if I don't get all the terminology correct I do apologise. Like in the description of this book the inspiration/ credits to this book are @bckyloki on tiktok so if you see this thank you for giving me permission to make this a book I hope it's as good as you hope! :) I'm starting the next chapter in the afternoon British time  (it's currently 2:43AM rn).
