His mother had been a big black labrador retriever. Henry had never found out what his father had been. Henry had been born on a dog breeding farm in Saskatchewan, a black lab like his mother, big blue eyes and more intelligent that any dog could ever be. He understood english just fine, it was the talking back part that was tricky. Gestures were all he had, but he didn't mind.

On a special evening that would change his life, a man came up to his pen and said,"this one."

The man's name had been Tom, a middle aged man just looking for a companion. He took Henry home and cared for him like he was the only one in his life.

Tom's motto seemed to always be "Go get it" or when he played fetch with Henry, "Go get it boy."

Tom was a race car driver and he always said that because you want something, like to win a race, you have to go get it.
