I have been surviving on this island for about 3 years now. We were sent upon the exploration of this new planet. But we were not expecting this. My companions Lyra and Sarah left an hour ago to gather some food and water. We used our damaged spacecraft as shelter, I wish we saw the asteroid before it hit us and destroyed our systems computing and engine, and we crashed upon this planet.
I step out of our large metallic door and venture upon this mysterious land and walk about 1km to get to the river, and my companions are no where to be seen. It never taken them this long to gather equipment before. Something is wrong. That must be it, maybe they are in danger. I rush back to the ship to arm myself incase I need to defend myself, and venture deep into the woods. About an hour later, the sound of footsteps seemed to echo mine. I stopped, and so did they. Maybe it's just an echo. Attempting to take another footstep, the echo followed. Finally I pretend to take another step, but the sound still followed. I'm being followed. The vines surrounding me would provide enough coverage for this thing to hide, but can I use this towards my advantage. I quickly turn around, and as I expected, nothing was there.
I scan my premises, I squish through the mucky swamp like mud, and towards all of the interwinding, snakish vines, past all of the thick leaves that surround the tough, chestnut bark. Until finally, I finally find that between the leaves, were eyes. Leafy green eyes. So this creature uses camouflage. The eyes were flaring with coldness, and hardness. No hatred or pity found, it was the eyes of a predator.
With one quick swipe of my short blade I cut the vines, and see a green, four legged, scaly creature. The colour suddenly changes. Everything goes dark, the eyes, the scales, and a low, frightening growl escapes the creatures voice. I begin to run.
I sprint, faster than I ever had before. My feet pound into the deep mud, making huge footsteps. Though that may not be my smartest move, but all that I know is that I must get away from that, thing.
Suddenly a large weight quickly exerts on me as the creature lands on my back, causing me to trip over. Wrestling with the creature, trying to escape its grasp. Pushing, and shoving the thing away from me as hard as I can. Until finally, I flip the monster over. But this thing is smart, too clever to trick. It immediately jumps, claws barring out and I feel a sharp pain. Slowly, everything begins to blur. The last thing I see, is the dark, black, cold eyes.
