HELL IS EMPTY, AND all the devils had found a new home in Annais' head. Her sister was dead. There was no possible chance she could've survived that fall, and Annais wasn't so foolish as to believe otherwise. In her heart of hearts, she knew the unforgiving truth. That Ezra Min had departed this world in Annais' place, following in the footsteps of a sister already paying the price for her dance with fate.
And Annais didn't even get to say goodbye.
Again.
Now it was just her, Hea and Melanie. Three parts of a rusted-over machine that could only run smooth with five. Hope was a pipe dream; they were running on its fumes just to keep the last of the seven alive another day. And Annais couldn't help but blame herself; she was her own thorn in her side.
When the going got tough, when the monsters came knocking, she had always known what to do, even if the light at the end of the tunnel wasn't all that bright. But Annais Min knew Tartarus better than her own brain. She knew its cavernous places and the things that festered in the shadows.
It would only be a matter of time before she joined the things of the dark, and Gaea wreaked her havoc.
