44. Bombs

"I'm sorry but we can worry about me later because I see fresh vehicle tracks," Chloe said pointing towards the tyre marks. "Ok. M'lady, are you coming?" Chat noir asked only to see her staring at the destroyed place infront of her. "M'lady?" Adrien called out again. "-Ah yeah?" She asked, coming out of her daze. "We should go. Your parents and Adrien's father could be in danger," Nathaniel said.

"Yeah, let's go," Ladybug replied in the smallest voice ever.

3rd Person's POV

They were on their way yet again, their heads hurting from the fight. Their racing heartbeat made beats of perspiration form on their forehead. "All's well that ends well," they thought wanting everything to end quickly with no further damage. But the damage has been made and scars were left in everyone's hearts. Nothing could return back to how it was. Life was hard for the teenagers who keep running after things that they don't need to worry about. But if not them, then who else.

They made their way towards the castle, still somewhere that they never got used to. They reached the front palace and everything looked the same. No getaway car, no breaking of windows, no forced entries, no screaming or the sound of weaponries. This scared them to bits. Why was there no one here yet? Where is Tyler? A war or a fight is bad. But you know what's worse? A war or fight when they didn't know what was happening. Then they realised that Tyler could have been there before Marinette's and Adrien's parents. He could have planned something. Does he maybe knew that they escaped. Did he find out? Is that why there is no damage on and in the palace. What was actually going on? They were clueless yet again.

“Guys… I have a really bad feeling about…” Chloe said, feeling her stomach churn at all the anxiety. Marinette didn’t have any plan. Adrien didn’t know who to help, his lady or the country. Nathaniel looked helplessly at the situation.

They went in through front door, all four of them looking at either of the four directions. They checked the throne room. Where were Sabine, Tom, Gabriel, Felix and Bridgette? As every second passed by, they felt their chest become more and more heavy.

“Do you all hear that?” Chat noir asked, his ears perking up. The other three superheroes gave their attention to Chat noir. “What? What sound? I don’t hear anything.” Chloe replied, the others shaking their head. “I think it’s coming that way,” Chat noir, replied pointing towards the tower.

“That’s going towards the tower. Our parents must be there!” Ladybug said, running towards that direction. “M’lady! Wait! I don’t think they are there… but maybe… I hear something else… like a beep? Like multiple beep coming at once… I don’t know what it is? But Marinette don’t be hasty. We should go slowly…” Chat noir replied, stopping Marinette from going any further. “I’m sorry, I am just so worried…” She said, sighing, rubbing her head in despair.

The four of them carefully walked up the staircases. “Wait… that sound sounds like…” Nathaniel started, before running up. The rest of the heroes followed him in confusion. They all heard the sound coming from under the huge table. Their hearts pounding faster than ever, Nathaniel bent down look for the sound source. Nathaniel gasped, banging his head. “I-It’s a b-bomb.” Nathaniel sputtered. Everyone’s eyes widened. Oh no!

“Oh my god. This might not be the only bomb here. There could have been more of them. Tyler is inside the castle. I just know it. He must be planting them in the castle… And your parents… I don’t think he has harmed them yet. Then… where are they?” Chloe stated, her anxiety building up. Marinette started to bite her fingertips in frustration and fear.

“Ok everyone… we have to calm down. Yes, we have not much time. The bomb will blow up in roughly 40 minutes. We have to evacuate in the castles — our classmates, the workers in the castles, everyone.” Nathaniel instructed.

“Yes, but we also have to try to turn off the bomb. It will be too late for the police department to disable the bombs one by one. I reckon that the main control for all the bombs are with Tyler so we must try looking for him. But we do not have enough manpower as of now.” Chat noir pointed out.

“Chloe, Nath. You guys go evacuate everyone ASAP. Me and Adrien will look for Tyler and our parents. Once we find them, we will call you guys. That’s the only thing we can do now. I think we should call the police department anyways just to ensure everyone’s safety. We have no time to loose!” Ladybug said, sadness etched in her eyes. No one complained, everyone obeyed like she said.

Adrien and Marinette decided to go to their parents’ rooms. Maybe they were there? No, they weren’t there at all. “M’lady, there must be a weaponry room here as well, right? I learnt somewhere that weaponry rooms are usually bulletproof in case of any malfunctions. Could Sabine and Tom have brought our parents there?” Chat noir asked. “Worth a try, Kitty… but be careful and watch out for Tyler as well,” Ladybug replied, smiling, trying to lift up the mood.

Adrien and Marinette ran to the weaponry room as fast as they could. They had no more time to loose. “Maman! Papa!” Marinette started calling as they neared the room. Chat noir realised that there was a lock on the door of the weaponry room. “Mari! There is a passcode here. Any idea?” Adrien asked. Marinette tried their birthdays but it didn’t work at all.

“Maybe, it is your birthday?” Chat noir wondered out loud, keying the numbers on the key pad attached to the door. It still didn’t work. “What about… the day that the assassination that happened all those years ago… Sabine told me the date,” Marinette said, teary as she keyed in the numbers. The room opened and they slowly walked only to be tackled down by 2 figures. Ladybug and Chat noir tried to fight to back when they realised who it was… It was Sabine and Tom! Marinette immediately hugged the both of them tightly.

“I thought the both of you were someone else. Thank god!” Tom laughed as he wiped his sweat. “Where is Maman, Papa and Adrien’s Dad?” Marinette asked frantically. “Marinette! Adrien!” They heard voices coming towards them! They were all safe. Tears welled up in Marinette’s eyes. She thought something bad had happened to them. Bridgette, Felix and Gabriel heaved a sigh of relief that their kids were alright. Chat noir took our his baton and messaged Chloe and Nathaniel that they have found their parents and that they were in the weaponry room.

“M’lady! We have no time to waste! I just messaged Chloe and Nath. Dad, Your Highnesses, Sabine Tom… bombs have been planted in the castle. We have to get out as soon as possible.” Chat noir said, frantically. The adults looked horrified and they gasped. Just then…they felt the door creak slowly…

“It must be Chloe and Nath!” Ladybug smiled, delighted that their friends were here as well! “No, no. It cannot be them. We didn’t tell them the password and I highly doubt that they know when exactly you were taken away…” Chat noir muttered, loud enough for them to hear. But it was too late to act…

“Well, well, well, Cat boy got that right,” they heard a nasty voice, only to see Tyler wearing a menacing smile and clapping. Marinette started to become paranoid but tried to remain in composure. Chat noir sneered at him.

“I came here to find the Prince and Princess but now it seems like I can kill two birds in one stone, right? I must admit… I was quite a fool to have not realised it sooner. No superhero would sacrifice their lives to save royalties. No one in this world is selfless… Now that the family is reunited, it’s time to destroy you.” Tyler said, bursting into a maniacal laughter.

Those laughter was the only thing Marinette heard before darkness engulfed her.
