Smith

I watched as Rosalie laughed at my explanation and the red faded from around her eyes. I told her,

"Well, when I was a kid, my mom gave me the blue one and a pink one to give to a friend. I told her that other boys don't like pink, and she just winked, like she knew something I didn't. I never thought she meant for me to give it to a girl friend--"

Our eyes widened, so I thought quickly,

"Not a girlfriend, but a friend that's a girl--you get what I'm saying, right? Cuz--" Her laugh interrupted my rushed explanation, and I grinned along with her. Her smile was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I can't believe Ricky would cheat on her and dump her.

"So, we have a happy Rosalie, now?"

She laughed and her hair bounced around her face and fell perfectly around it. "Yes," she agreed cheerfully. "Gosh, sometimes you just have to be a babbling idiot to get it off your chest." Dirty thoughts clouded my mind so I pushed them away--I'm not a pervert, and I don't like it when that one corner of my mind gets loose.

"Yea, that's me everyday," I said, and she let out a small laugh. Then I handed her the pink bear.

"Aw, thanks," she exclaimed, and hugged the small bear to her chest. I grinned, and looked at my blue bear. "Whatcha' gonna name it?"

"Mhm," she murmured, study her bear, looking into its black eyes. "I think I'll name him.. Smith." I smirked, then looked my bear over, looking into its black eyes.

"I'm going to name it.." Rosalie grinned. I smirked again.

"Shelby."

Her jaw dropped and I broke out into a laugh. "I'm joking, I'm joking," I spat out between laughs. She playfully hit me on the head--atleast I think it was playful--and I looked at her smiling.

"Rosalie."

"Yeah?" she asked, returning my smile. "No," I replied. "It's name is Rosalie."

She nodded her head firmly and gave me a quizzical look. "Good," she said, seriously. "I think I like that name." We grinned once again and then she flopped down on her back onto her bed.

"Hey, Smith?"

I flopped down beside her. "Yeah?"

"Did you.." she started. "How many.. girlfriends did you have? I mean, wait, um.."

My breath caught in my throat. "Well," I started, "one..."

Rosalie was silent. " 'One,' what?" Then her cheeks started to go extremely red. She looked so pretty... I wasn't even offended.

"Oh my God, I'm such a bitch I'm so sorry.. 'yknow, I should just, oh--" I cut her off and just looked into her eyes. I didn't say a word. Her eyes moved silently, exploring mine, and I did the same.

"Your eyes are beautiful," the words tumbled out of my mouth before I could even think them. Oh, shit! "Uh, uhm--" I cleared my throat, "I mean, uh.." She was smiling. "..yeah, that's... what... I mean."

A sharp knock came at the door and I leaped off the bed and hurried to go get it.

"Who is it?" I heard her call from her bedroom.

Rosalie

Smith didn't answer, so I was guessing he was talking to the guy/girl at the door. He's so.. sweet and I just love him! No, no, I don't love him, but..

"I don't think she wants to talk to you," I heard Smith say coolly, loud enough for me to hear. I sat up in the bed and creeped to the doorway of my room. Peeking around the door, I tried not to swing it open.

"And I don't think she needs a quick fuck right now," a familar, strong voice said. Oh. Fuck. You. My hands shook on the door at the sound of Ricky's voice.

Smith was silent, but I heard Ricky let out a scornful laugh. I looked a bit more and made out Smith's clenched fists and how he was trying to maintain steady breathing. Oh, God, Ricky is strong than Smith--he just can't... No!

"Unlike you, I'm not here to seduce her and then dump her," Smith said in a cold and wavery voice. "I live here."

Ricky laughed again. "Yeah, sure, like she woudl accept your offer." Okay, I've had it.

"He didn't offer."

Ricky and Smith looked at me, standing in my bedroom doorway, mirroring Smith's clenched fists. He let his go, but mine stayed white-knuckled.

"Rosie," Ricky said, and I interrupted him with a shake of my head, "He lives here." Ricky looked taken back, but then a scowled formed on his face. "Really?" he snarled, and then with one quick motion he had his hand around the hem on the front of Smith's shirt.

"What if I make pretty boy not so pretty, then, huh?"

I gasped, but I didn't need to. Smith had pushed Ricky away, accidentally slamming him into the door. Worry was etched across Smith's face, and I sent him a quick 'it's-okay-he-deserved-it' look. Smith was like an angel from heaven--didn't want to hurt someone but if they had to, they had to. Is that how they feel?

I ran up to Smith and wrapped an arm around his waist, shakingly. Suddenly I felt really awkward, and smith hesistantly put his arm around my shoulders.

"Get," I spat, "get the fuck out." Ricky looked from my arm around Smith and his arm on my shoulder and sneered, but didn't reply.

"He didn't offer," I said as he opened the door, "I offered. He's my boyfriend." Ricky's mouth dropped, Smith's mouth dropped, and I stuggled to keep mine shut as I stepped forward and slammed the door in his face.

It was silent.

"Boyfriend?" Smith said with a hint of disbelief and a smile in his voice. I hesistated, then nodded, and looked over at him with a weak smile. He shook his head, and my smile dropped.

"It's just.." he said, and I felt tears coming on. It's too soon, I thought, or he just doesn't want to, I mean, it came out all of a sudden, and he probably doesn't believe me. I do want to date him, just maybe he... doesn't.

"It's just.. I wanted to be the girlfriend."

I looked up at him, and he grinned, and I burst out laughing. "Really?" I said between laughs, and he frowned.

"This is a serious matter, Rosalie," he saild coldly, and I laughed some more. He joined in. When we finally stopped, he looked at me in my eyes.

"Shouldn't we go on a date first before we go steady?" he asked. I smiled, a tiny smile, and answered him wit ha question.

"I guess it's going to fast, isn't it?" He smiled,

"Not if you don't want it too." I rolled my eyes and walked closer to him. He was only a little bit taller than me, so it was the perfect time to kiss. Dit, do it, do it, my mind pleaded. He leaned in, and I felt my eyelids closing...

..until the phone rang.

A/N: Sorry it's so short, but I PROMISE the next one will be better! I've been a bit busy, so, sorrrrrryyyyyyy...!
