With the afternoon scorching sun heating up the whole of the city, Maya got home and was glad her Dad was home already.
"Hey Dad" she greeted looking uninterested.
"Hi sweetie, how was school?" Mr Logan asked.
"Horrible" she snorted"Why horrible?"
"Cause I get to be tormented by my mates and then I get forced to attend this year's Summer Camp. Ain't it horrible?" She grunted
"Attending this year's Summer camp? But I don't find that horrible honey" her dad said plainly
"Dad! It's really horrible. Do you know the number of students that will get to attend Summer Camp?"
"Alot?"
"Exactly! A whole lot of them, and I hate all of them. Every single one of them, why do I still have to see their faces even when the school is on break?" She snarled.
"Dad look, you have to write a petition to the school""Petition?"
"Yes dad. A petition that you don't want your daughter attending Summer Camp. I'm sure the school would approve it, coming from my Dad" she ranted this time.
"I don't think that's necessary dear. You've never gone to Summer Camp, why don't you give it a try? I'm sure it's not all that bad" her dad reassured.
"Do you really wanna risk my life, Dad?" Maya shot at him
"Common, it isn't too dangerous to risk your life"
"I never said it was dangerous. The people there are dangerous. Dad please I don't want to go to Summer Camp" she whined."I'm sorry darling, but you have to go. Since its a suggestion from the school, I can't decline it. So just go, try and have fun for once in your life Maya"
Maya sighed heavily, she couldn't tell her Dad that going to Summer Camp was her punishment.

She walked through the hallways, glad that she wasn't late as usual. There were no sounds of students chattering, just the few ones walking in the hallway with her. She got to the front of her class and gently peeped in, no one was there. Wait! There was a guy, his head was bowed towards a book in front of him.
She sighed before slightly opening the door and walked in. The guy didn't move an inch, probably he didn't notice her enter. She walked to her seat at the back in the last row.
"You didn't close the door properly" she paused once she heard him mutter. Okay he noticed her.
Well how arrogant of him. She walked back to the door and closed it gently, trying not to make a sound.Maya let out a shudder and towered to her seat again; glad he didn't say anything this time. She took her seat and glanced at him, the bag behind his seat inscribed 'Phoenix Walter'
'Phoenix'
He turned and locked gaze with hers "You called me?" She almost froze as she starred blankly at him, she didn't know she said that out loud."Uhh---no. I---I didn't say anything" she heard herself stutter.
He turned and focused on his book again. She recognised him; he was one of the three demigods of MariLake High.
~
Maya sat still, starring at him, hands on her chin and her elbow on the table; she didn't know how long."Quit starring at me, I hate when girls do that" he muttered again, standing up from his seat and picking his bag with him.
"Huh?"
"Yeah, you were starring at me dummy"
"I--I wasn't starring at you" she replied almost under her breath. She sat still blinking rapidly at him.
