Duolingo

Wasn't he a sight?

The owl man, surely couldn't be bested by any other language company. Although...there have been rumors of traitors vanishing a day after they were discovered.

But then again, they were only rumors..right?

——————————————————————-
"Y/n! You'll be joining us for that hang out right?....Y/n...Y/n!" Your friend, Wattpad, yelled, waving her hand over your face. "You've been suspiciously in a daze, Y/n. Something up?" You merely shrugged, as her girlfriend, Webtoon, sat besides her. "Let me guess..." Webtoon said, giving a serious face. "Duolingo finally asked you out on a date?" Webtoon and Wattpad both snickered at your flushed face. "W-what? No! Well.." you muttered, your mind racing with questions.

Duolingo did ask you out for dinner, as a gift for your hard work at the company. As much as you wanted to politely wanted to refuse, there was this...weird vibe he gave off that was like a 'don't say no' vibe.

"Y/n~" Duolingo hooted, as he came by your side, taking your arm and nuzzling into it. You didn't think much of it, as this was the way he usually acted with you. "Yes, Duolingo? I'm quite busy..." you said nodding your head towards the computers screen in front of you." The owl man huffed, pouting at your lack of enthusiasm. "Although I'm glad your working hard, you shouldn't push yourself so hard! Ah that reminds me.." he pulled out a formal paper from his breast pocket, handing it to you.

"What's this?"
"Why an invitation, Y/n! Don't tell me you've never received one! For all your hard work, I merely wanted you to award you by taking you out for dinner."

You gave it a thought, as you cast a glance at his face though...it was enough to give you shivers, so you quietly accepted before focusing back to work. Not before seeing the owl fly upwards a bit with happiness. He muttered a few words at the end, but you couldn't quite catch what he said.

You looked over your shoulder, to see Duolingo chatting with his other employees. A stern face cast down on him.

"Nah...I don't think it's like that. He merely wanted to award my hard work by taking my to this fancy dinner place." You muttered. Wattpad wiggled her eyebrows, "You know, that's what happens in the beginning, but next thing you know, you find yourself bare on a bed, and getting your guts rearranged- OW" she dramatically shrieked, as Webtoon lightly punched her shoulder. "Jeez, quiet down. Not everything leads to a 'lemon' as what your company calls it, Wattpad." She said sighing loudly, wondering why her partner was like this.

Wattpad mischievously smirked, as she placed a hand behind Wattpads back, and the other caressing her face, "Oh, but you love that don't you? That's not what I heard last night~" You stared at the scene in with a frown. "I know you two are dating, but like keep your lovey dovey-ness out of my face. Lonely people like me don't want to see that. Get a room." You said sticking out your tongue at Wattpads irritated face, and Webtoons flushed one.

You were looking through your closet, although it was filled it tons and different types of clothes. It was mainly from thrift stores or dollar tree, some even from Ross. The rest of the few were clothes provided by your company. Which was just a darkish green skirt, and a plain white formal shirt.

You sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose. Why were you so focused on this? It wasn't a date for crying out loud. Did you wish it would be? No. Did you have any romantic feelings for the damn owl....you weren't even sure anymore.

God, even remembering your interview with the company made you turn red.

But that's a story for another day

With a sigh, you decided to just stick with what you usually wear for formal dinner. As the restaurant probably consisted of a dress code. You wore a simple pale green dress, and to keep it safe, you wore white tennis shoes.

You looked at the clock, it was a quarter till six. Duolingo promised to pick you up on the dot. In the mean time...you looked over at your phone. You could always chat with Roblox. Now, he seemed like a weird guy at first. You warmed up to him eventually, and the two of you became friends...and although he did admit his feeling to you not long ago. You said you weren't exactly looking for a relationship at the moment. You looked at your guy's texts. That was two years ago, and then a month ago. You hovered your eyes over /that/ text.

Roblox 👁👅👁

I'll wait for you, Y/n. I still have feeling for you, Y/n. It's okay if you don't return them. But I feel like you deserve to know this

To this day you've been contemplating about your feelings about him.
Love? Not sure
A friend? Definitely not
Enemy? 1000x No

You sighed, why did your romantic life have to be both so complicated and so empty?

Knock knock

He's here...
