  Oliver was out running errands with Ruby while their parents were at work. Gumi joined them as well, and though Oliver wanted to make snarky jokes, he understood that they had a limited time together and wanted to spend as much of it in person as possible. He wasn't nice often, but he decided he would be today. At least they wouldn't be gross in front of him like Hio was with his ex.

  Oliver stared at the toy section of the store, letting his gaze run over several plushies he felt Fukase would like. Nothing could replace his Point, so he felt it was almost useless to buy him another one.

  "Oliver, come on!" Ruby called from down the aisle. He still stared at the plushies as he followed. He stood at the cart, silently looking at his sister and her girlfriend.

  "What's on your mind?" Gumi asked.

  Oliver hummed. "Fukase is leaving in three days. I wanted to give him something to remember me by, but I don't know what he'd want."

  "Well, what does he like?" Ruby asked, leaning against the cart.

  Oliver hummed again. "Music, plushies, memes."

  Ruby and Gumi shared a look. "Don't you draw? Why don't you draw him something?"

  "Oh yeah," Ruby agreed. "That'd be a good idea. It's more personal."

  "He probably gets art from fans all the time. I want something that will stick out." Oliver huffed, glancing down at the floor.

  "Art does stick out." Gumi insisted. "Maybe write a letter for him too."

  "I dunno, that seems so lame. Plus, I'm not that good at drawing."

  Ruby bonked him on the head, and it caught him so off guard that he didn't even process it at first. "Literally nothing will be better than a drawing and a letter. Maybe record a song or two for him if you really want."

  Oliver paused. Perfect. That was perfect, actually. He would record three songs for Fukase. One would be an original song, one would be a cover of a song by Fukase, and one would be a meme-y song. He would draw them together and write a letter and buy a stuffed animal for him. A bird.

  "Thanks, Ruby! I'll do that!" He grinned and flapped his hands. "I'll give him multiple gifts."

  "Woah, woah, calm down." Ruby laughed. "Giving him multiple gifts might make it seem like you're coming on too strong."

  Oliver ran off down the toy aisle again, not listening to Ruby. His idea was perfect. So many gifts would definitely stick out to Fukase. He had to get started on them immediately.

  When they arrived home, he disappeared into his room with the box, wrapping paper and bow, and the yellow bird plushie he bought with his money from the cafe. He wanted everything to look perfect, so he started on the drawing immediately.

  Fukase was busy for the day, doing some kind of collab with another celebrity and autographing posters and other merchandise. Oliver was glad that they had chosen today to do all of that so he could work on this gift box for Fukase. It would take him hours to perfect this drawing and letter, and another few hours and probably into the next day to record his songs.

  Hours into his work, he got a message from someone.

  He considered ignoring Len to continue his work, but he was getting exhausted, so he decided to take a break. Whatever Len wanted couldn't take up too much of his time anyway.

  The way Len typed combined with his terrible username made Oliver want to block him, but he didn't out of politeness. Not really actually. Why didn't he block him.

  Oliver face palmed slowly, seriously regretting letting Len talk. He really wasn't worried about some TikTok fuckboy gaining Fukase's affection before Oliver did.

  Oliver groaned as his face warmed. There was no need for Len to say all of this. This was just deeply embarrassing him.

  Oliver set his phone aside and continued on his work.

  He wouldn't admit that Len's words did make him feel good. It was nice to know that all of his work wouldn't go unnoticed.

  Sweet Ann, Ruby, and Gumi were right. They were people too. Fukase would appreciate anything Oliver made for him even if he got gifts from fans all the time.

  Oliver's gifts weren't coming from a fan that Fukase would never see the face of. They were coming from a friend, and that was good enough.
