Today is College Move-In Day. I cannot name all of the countless emotions I feel; however, anxiety is definitely one of them. Luckily, my best friend, Olivia, is here to help me move in and be my emotional support.
My heart has been racing with anticipation while I eagerly wait to meet my roommate. It has been such a rollercoaster getting into this school (since I may have sent my application in late... but my father quickly solved that issue with money), and because of that, getting a dorm room has been difficult.
The dorm room I was given is occupied by a junior named Greyson Monet. I am hoping that some unique and really quirky parents decided to name their daughter Greyson, but that's probably not the case.
"Wait," Olivia interjected my thoughts, "so your roommate is a guy?"
"I know! It fucking sucks. Imagine how awkward it's going to be."
"What do you mean, Skye?? That's amazing! Imagine all of the making out that's possible..."
I blushed at Liv's dirty thoughts.
"And more.." Olivia continued, teasingly.
"Stopp!!! I can't with you, Liv. Greyson and I are just gonna be roomies, and I'll probably avoid him anyways."
"Okay, okay. I'm just joking. You can breathe now," she grinned.
I rolled my eyes and giggled with my best friend.
We took the elevator to my dorm room floor and rolled my belongings to my room. Walking in the room, I was surprised by the size. This wasn't a traditional walk-in closet, side-by-side beds, dorm room. Like, I knew my father paid good money for me to be in this school, but there are literal separate rooms. I was thanking the heavens that I didn't have to share a room, let alone with a guy, because I've always had a hard time sharing things being an only child.
It was clear my dorm(more like small apartment) was lived in, but Greyson was nowhere around. Liv and I unloaded my stuff into the one empty room, decorating my prison cell into a cozy, aesthetically pleasing bedroom.
Liv and I hung out a little more, but we were both exhausted so she decided to let us each get some rest. I lazily scrolled on TikTok when I heard keys jingling in the door. I assumed it was Greyson, so I walked to the living area to meet him. Apparently, we're having a few guests!!! (The enthusiasm was sarcastic by the way...) I am way too tired for this.
"Hey, you must be Skylar. Nice to meet you. I'm Greyson and these are some of my friends, Alex and Nick," Greyson introduced.
Holy shit is he hot. He could be pursuing a modeling career instead of going to this stupid college. His dark brown hair, his defined cheekbones, his sharp jaw... I caught myself checking him out, and I think he did too. I blushed bright pink as he grinned, knowingly. Anyways, just because he's hot does not mean that makes me less annoyed.
"Um, yeah. I'm Skylar. Nice to meet you too, and your friends..." I said with the smallest amount of attitude as I could, but my facial expression was clear annoyance.
He raised his eyebrows slightly, and I think his eyes darkened a little. I wonder why. He's the one who brought his friends over on the day I was moving in. Whatever.
"Thanks for walking me to my room guys, but I don't think now's the time to hang out. See you later," Greyson said.
His friends said their goodbyes and left. Leaving me alone with Greyson. On second thought, maybe having extra company was not so bad. He glared down at me, making the height difference noticeable.
