Clink...
clink clink...
the slow sound of the rain continued as the sky drowned out the night with its tears. Hitting the car windows as we drove home. Mother had the radio playing to drown out the sound of the raging storm outside as father drove us home. Brennan, my twin brother was seated next to me on his phone in the backseat. "Mom can you please change the song? This song is stupid." Mother always had an unique taste in music you could say, which was quite opposite from my brothers. "Brennan what have I told you about using that kind of language.'' Father glanced up in the rear view mirror, "And I told you no phones in the car didn't I? Give it here." Brennan unbuckled his seatbelt and handed father his phone, "Honey watch out for the dear!"
Jolting awake I sigh, "it was just a dream...just the same reoccurring nightmare." Turning to see its 2:00am I grimace in annoyance. Will I ever get a night of sleep that'll be more than 5 hours. Starring at my bedroom ceiling my irritation slowly builds at how messed up my sleep schedule is. Laying here isn't gonna help you fall back to sleep Basil I tell myself. Might as well get ready for another gray day of my very exciting life.
"Alexa! Play my morning playlist." I say my voice gruff and dry from sleep while making my way into my very big bathroom.
"Now playing morning playlist from Spotify" retorts Alexa
The song, Breezeblocks by Alt-J begins to play in the background of the running water from my shower.
After cleaning up I can't help but frown in the mirror at my reflection. I mean I know I'm not ugly by the many complements I get from girls and guys. I just wish my features weren't so intimidating and my RBF doesn't help at all. With my sharp jawline and check bone features, dull grey eyes, head full of dark brown curls. A few freckles scattered across my face as well. Sometimes I wish I had a round face big almond eyes like those white bimbos, a face that was welcoming rather than one that seems to be looking into your soul.
Although I am great full for my looks when it comes to my job. I'm an Architect in the glowing city of Seattle, Washington. I design big office buildings from as tall as sky scrapers to aesthetically pleasingly dome shape buildings. The only problem is in this world the men are extreme assholes. If there was a level above 'I wanna make everyone's life hell' these guys would be on that level. Sadly for me the one place you will for sure find these assholes is behind a desk belonging to the head of some corporate. Which happens to be most of my clients, YAY!! How exciting.
You see I'm very good at what I do in this city so the big dogs have no other choice than to come to me asking to design their next build. Much to my dislike. Therefore my features come in handy when one of these assholes try's to run my show or gyp me of my pay just because I'm a girl. One glare with those grey eyes of mine and a warning with my unusual low voice for a girl has them thinking twice about matters.
Grabbing my bag before heading out of my loft apartment I make my way to my black Dodge Challenger.
Last week I had gotten guilt tripped into taking my long time friend Bell out for coffee. She complained how we never see each other and that I'm always busy even though I had seen the girl just the week before this conversation. Ugh I don't know how I put up with her sometimes. I even ended up having to pay for this little get together, no clue how but coffee does sound good at the moment.
Walking into one of my favorite cafes I order my drink and pick a table in the corner next to the big glass window over looking the busy streets of Seattle.
"Couldn't even wait for me until I got here huh? I wanted to order together. You hurt me Basil you really do." States Bell with a lil pout on her face standing in front of me a hand on her hip.
