Right By Your Side.

Chapter 2: The Break down & The Build Up, part1

One morning I wake up to a new energy around me. My beautiful fluff pillow was actually. dare I say it.. singed? This is not something I am familiar with. All my years of being apart of the fire kingdom & this was something un- heard of. 

"Hm, unusual."

I brush it off until I shower, only to notice the hot water just isn't hot enough today.. I turn the shower knob completely over but yet I still don't feel it is enough.. as I got out, I thought the lingering fire was coming from what wasn't so hot of a shower, however.. as I proceeded to the kitchen area, I realize.. that I, was the one smoking.. 

With all the unusual events happening this morning, I send the Fire kingdom guards out to do my morning routine for me . I phone the Air kingdom letting him know I would be running a bit behind today then immediately called the Fire Kingdom resident doctor. This is the only doctor in our land, with an endless array of nurses. What can I say? Fire Kingdom men are known bachelors. "Why marry one woman when I can sleep with all the nurses?" he says. It isn't my job to judge, however, the 'sharing a man' thing has never been my mantra.

He agrees to head over to my palace immediately as I offer to make him coffee upon his arrival for how early he is considering me. He is outside the gate no later than 10 minutes, and I shortly after have him in my home. Just preparing his coffee before sitting down with me to chat.

"So, surely I'm not here just for coffee & biscuits.. What's going on?"

I start with everything. Waking up to burnt pillows, the water temp not being hot enough. I even stood up moving swiftly to the right to show him that there is literal smoke beaming off me AFTER my shower. He looks puzzled, then proceeds to check me. Pressure points, lymph nodes, checked my eyes.

"This is something I have never seen before in all the years I have been a doctor for this kingdom.. All your vitals seem to be perfectly fine."

He then pauses to give me a moment, turns to me inquisitively.

"Has any of this ever happened to you before?"

"... no"

"And yet, at this age when your powers should be completely done sprouting.. things seem to be increasing? .. scorching your pillow would indicate that the fire is increasing within you now.. even as you sleep"

"OK but what does all of this mean Doctor Hun-"

"I'm saying this to say that since you've taken on Air kingdom as Empress of the Fire Kingdom I think both energies are now merging together.. which means"

"..Which means recipe for destruction if I'm not careful..."

We finish up our chat & I thank him for stopping by. That's something I never considered.. Fire & Air work together.. fire needs air. As I ponder, I grab the burnt pillow starring at it. Blank face, blank stare. Should I give up my position as temporary Air Empress? Would this be a disservice to my late bestfriend, whom I told her I would take care of things?

I admit I have felt subtle shifts in my own self.. I feel faster, stronger. I burn brighter, but is this something that would eventually cost me? 

I think my husband for a second, softening my face.. I wonder what he would do.. What he would say.. This is usually when I need him the most but I also find myself getting upset equally.. Because I miss him. I throw the pillow across the room.

"If he missed me he would be here.. would've been here."

Before I know it, I'm surrounded in smoke. Again haha.

I chuckle because it's evident that my anger is what's causing this. I can't help but get fucking angry, I mean.. How do you leave someone you love by themselves with no word?

How can you not search the ends of earth to find me because you miss me?

I push it all to the back of my brain as I put my now on fire bed spread out. *sigh* learning how to navigate this energy will be so tough, but this is a dedication I dedicated to my bestie. I can do this. Just watch my temper, and learn how to control this just as I did when I was little learning my fire.

As long as I don't think about my husband.. *deeper sigh* I'll be good..
