Seth came and sat back down. I felt like maybe, just maybe, all of this could work out after all.

J: "What's going on back there?"

Richard was standing up, gun pointed at Kate and Scott. He looked back at Jacob terrified

And I spoke too soon...

Seth flew out of his seat, "Hey! Come here!" he dragged him away.

R: "They're not what they seem! K, they're dangerous!"

S: "Not what they seem? Richie, what the hell is going on with you? Now, you were firing on all cylinders back at the motel. If you come apart on me now, I swear to God-"

R: "I'm trying to save us. I know what they really are. I can tell."

Okay, so this guy was way off his fucking rocker.

S: "What the hell do you mean 'you can tell'?"

R: "I can just tell. Look, I don't want to have to do this, but I'm gonna have to kill them, okay? It's the only way."

I tensed, I was really hoping to get through this without having to kill these guys.

S: "Hey, Richard, just talk to me, buddy. Explain it to me, alright? Just tell me what's going on."

R: "Okay."

S: "Alright?"

R: "Okay, for a while now, I've been getting these signals, I guess you could call 'em. I didn't really know what to make of 'em until she came along."

S: "She?"

R: "Yeah, she's the reason I know what Jacob and Scott really are. She's been calling, Seth. She's been calling me to the other side."

S: "Who?"

R: "I don't know her name. She's like a goddess or something. I-I usually only see her in reflections. I saw her in the safe at the bank, and then the refrigerator at the liquor store, and then one time I saw her through the hole in my hand."

I glanced to the bandage that covered his left hand, I figured he cut it or something not that there was entire hole underneath there.

S: "Wait. You saw her in your hand..."

R: "Yeah. Right now, I just saw her. She's probably still watching. She's the one who's been calling me to Mexico. That's why I know about them. She told me to look, Seth. So that's what I did."

S: "What'd you see?"

R: "Well... See, the old man... he's really a demon. He's got fangs and claws and slime in his teeth in shit. And that kid... kid's got a tail. You remember Monica, the bank teller? She was gonna shoot me, Seth. And the goddess told me about that, too. That's why I had to sacrifice her. You see, there's something bigger going on here. Do you understand what I'm saying to you? Do you?"

Okay, maybe I made the wrong decision going about these guys peacefully. A part of me started to panic.

S: "Yeah. And, hey, listen... Richie, you're right."

R: "What?"

S: "Something's been off about this whole thing, okay? I can sense it, too. Trouble is, I'm not as tuned into it as you are. I never have been. Alright, buddy, cut me some slack here, okay? I can be a downright stubborn son of a bitch when it comes to admitting I'm wrong. I guess it's just 'cause you're-you're my brother. You know..."

I have never heard anyone spew as much pure, unbridled bullshit as he did just now.

R: "What?"

S: "I just- I never want to admit that you're- that you're right, you know? But when you're right, you're right. You always have been the smarter one, Richard."
