"Hi mama." Adriana sat on her and Talia's sofa in the living room as she held her phone against her ear.

"Hola, querida. Debes venir a visitar a la familia. Todos te echamos de menos." She could practically hear her mother's grin through the phone.

"I will soon, I promise." She sighed as she looked out, at the view.

"And bring Talia too!" Her mother added, her accent thick.

Perfectly timed, Talia walks past the kitchen to sit next to her best friend. "Of course mama. We just need to find the right time, especially since she's in the process of moving in with her boyfriend."

"Oh! Good on her!" Her mother, Rosa, shrieked through the phone. "Why don't you have a boyfriend that you can move in with, mija? You're 25 and still have no relationship. La gente habla. Han estado diciendo cosas como si tuviéramos un hogar roto. Es vergonzoso."

Every time Adriana and her mother spoke, her mum would talk about her being single and how she should be out looking for a husband and truthfully, she was sick of it. Maybe that's what warranted what she said next. "I do have a boyfriend." Talia looked at the girl as if she was crazy. "And I'm going to move in with him soon. Surprise!"

Her mother cheered, happy to hear the news. "It's about time! Enhorabuena, mija!"

She placed a tight grin on her face as she heard her mother celebrate. "Thanks mum."

"Who is he? Is he a youtube star like Talia's? When can I meet him? ¿Es guapo?" Her mother bombarded her with questions.

As if Talia couldn't be more surprised, the lies just kept tumbling out of Adriana's mouth. "He's actually, Simon's best friend, Ksi. You can meet him soon and yes he is handsome." Adriana felt herself cringe.

"Ah, estoy muy contento. Pero debo ir, para empezar a preparar el almuerzo para los niños hambrientos." Rosa let out a small sigh.

"Okay. Bye mama, Te quiero." She felt relieved that she was saying goodbye to her. She was afraid that the longer they spoke on the phone, the more lies would come out.

"Cuídate, cariño. Le deseo lo mejor a Talia. Yo también te quiero." Her mother said her goodbye before hanging up.

Once the call was ended, Adriana stared at her phone in disbelief before she slowly turned to Talia who was just as shocked, perhaps even more.

"You, the person who claims to hate him with all might, have told your mother, you're dating JJ?!" Talia said it aloud to try and process what the hell just happened.

Adri grabbed a pillow from their sofa and screamed into it for a moment. "I know what I said." She sighed once she removed the pillow from her face.

She picked up her phone once she heard a notification and she could've sworn she was going to pass out. So she threw her phone somewhere next to her and screamed into it again.

Talia looked at the text that made her best friend want to die and read it aloud. "Oh my god sis, you're dating Ks fucking I. Mum wants Minimar and you and your new boyfriend to come to the twins' birthday barbecue. Oh and she said she's gonna ask for a house tour when you move in or something? Not too sure, stopped listening after a while."

"I'm so fucked." Adri 'sobbed' although it wasn't a proper one and was just her making unhuman noises. "I just wanted to make my mum feel proud and now I just dug my own grave."

Talia frowned and started thinking of solutions. "Okay, it's fine, you and JJ are just gonna have to fake date...and actually move in together."

Adri looked up to the ceiling and placed her hands together. "Lord take me now please."
