Most people see insanity as a mental illness, where people would do things with no thought, though most of the time, they are awear of what they are doing.
Insanity isn't something that can be cured like depression. It is more like DID (dissositive Identity Disorder) in the way of how it develops and lasts.
It is commonly depicted with oncontrolled, unhinged laughter, and lust to watch everyone around them be in pain. Yet, in reality it is people who where pushed past their breaking point. People who where strong, and had a outstanding will to live. Which ended up being their downfall.
Most people don't realize that suicide is an answer to helping people, as sometimes, if they continue to live.. things only get worse. Just like how some severe chronically ill people would be able to have it so they can't get CPR if their hearts stop due to their suffering.
Why wouldn't insain beings be able to end their own suffering before it effects others? Before their mind is blinded by pain to the point they want to see people who hurt them, to suffer the same?
Someone may not feel that lust, or maybe they stopped that lust, but it doesn't mean they have regain their sanity. They have only denied who they became, ignoring it.

Not all blossoms are ment to bloom
How Harpy eagles would lay two eggs, but only take care of the one that hatches first
How deer would drown themselves when their mind gets damaged
How a tree bears many seeds, yet most never grow
How the mind are fragile, so will our thoughts
Sentience comes at the price of awearness
Awearness allows one to see the suffering of those around
The lust of stupidity, the longing for ignerence
A mind trapped in it's own making.
Let it free, before it sucomes to suffering.
