Kenzie's POV

It's been days since Derek killed Peter and Peter had killed Kate and just like we predicted the Argents were blaming us for her death and with Derek being the Alpha now they were after him so we'd had no choice but to find a new place to hide out given Chris knew I was staying at the motel so we hadn't been able to stay there.

I didn't exactly like where we ended up but I knew there wasn't much choice but an abandoned rail depot, the rusty old train cars were less than sanity and trying to explain to Lia why we were staying here and why she couldn't tell anyone had been less than ideal but again we didn't have a choice but at least there was a bathroom facility for the old workers down here and after some tinkering on Derek's part he'd gotten running water for the showers so that was one thing.

"I don't think she should be going to school Kenz" I rolled my eyes at Derek.

"She needs to go to school Derek" I argued hating this conversation since it's been happening every day for the last week, he was worried that the Argents were gonna use Lia against us again. "The bitch is gone and you know as well as I do that Chris has that code, he wouldn't dare going after Lia"

"You know as well as I do that it's not just going to be Chris much longer" he spat back at me and I frowned knowing just who he was talking about.

"We don't know that" I argued shaking my head sighing. "We can't lock her up in here Derek and we can't just pull her out of school, she's six for god's sake and it's bad enough that we barely got our education" he growled flashing his red Alpha eyes making me glare at him but before I could say anything to scold the action a scream made us both look up in shock as it echoed through what sounded like the entire of Beacon Hills. "Lydia" I spoke turning to Derek in shock, we'd found out the young girl had got bitten by Peter at the school dance and I've been keeping my eye on her for the last few days when I was at work but she hadn't been healing like one normally would after being bitten.

"I'm gonna go, track her down" Derek said making me frown.

"Why you?"

"Because" he replied crossing his arms as if daring me to argue with him, this had been happening increasingly over the last few days as well, his new Alpha...vibe was causing a rift between us since I was technically below him in the pack rank now and it has been a different change between us.

"Fine go" I spat walking away from him but he caught my arm pulling me into him. "No...no you don't get weasel your way-" he cut me off with a kiss before pressing his forehead against mine.

"I know things have been stressful on us lately but you know I love you" I glared at him for a second hating the way my heart rate picked up.

"Get out of here" I laughed rolling my eyes as I stepped out of his hold seeing him smile before he left so I walked into the second last train car where we were sleeping on the same mattress we'd salvaged from the Hale house and saw Lia laying on it with papers sprawled out around her. "What'cha doing?"

"Math" she replied without looking up making me smile as I sat down next to her.

"Need help?"

"No I'm good" I nodded my head.

"You hungry?" I asked and she looked up nodding her head. "How about you take a break and we'll go get some food"

"Will daddy come?" she asked and my smile dropped.

"He had to go out so we'll pick him up something for later" she frowned making me mad at Derek since he knew how much his absence upset our daughter and ever since coming back to this town she didn't seem like a priority to him especially considering she'd been kidnapped by his crazy ex-revenge sex partner. "It's a mommy-daughter dinner date" I smiled to make it sound worthwhile and she nodded climbing off the mattress and quickly slipped her feet into some shoes before we went upstairs. "Hold on"
