"The itching won't stop.."
My daughter had been saying this for the past month. At first, she only had a bite the size of a pin on her cheek. I didn't think much of it, figuring a spider had bitten her. The next week, dozens of spots covered her face, making her look like a sponge. Now, I can't see my daughter's eyes.
"Just ignore it, dear," I murmured, sipping my rancid water.
My sister was one of the first people to see my daughter like this. She said that I should have her put down! Over a few spots that had been sprouting black blood? How ludicrous. There was no way I was gonna kill my only child over a few silly bumps.
"Mother... Can I please go outside?"
"No honey. Remember what I told you? The outside world is dangerous...full of bad people."
Strangers had been looking at me strangely. Every time I leave the house, they turn to look in my direction. If I dared to look at them, they would turn away, chittering amongst themselves like the dirty rats they are."Mother...I'm so tired..."
I looked at the dirty table. It was covered in mail, which long ago had held many bills. These bills came from many hospitals, all of whom are filled with awful men. Men who wanted my daughter to be taken to the CDC. saying that she had some sort of deadly disease."Ok, dear. Just finish your plate.."
I looked up once I heard her finish the last bone. My daughter's appetite was hard to maintain, especially since she craved fresh blood, but I made do. Nothing but the best for my little girl. I grabbed the plate once she got up, staring at the eyes of my dear husband. He should have known...the virus he got had transformed our daughter."Mother..may I play with my Barbies?"
"Yes, dear.." I whispered. The last time he went on a business trip, he got bit. The symptoms had laid dormant for a few weeks before they started to show up. Tiny dots at first grew into gigantic welts. He had spread some sort of virus, which would eventually kill her too. She had just recently started losing her hair and some skin....
The Zombie virus is a cruel joke....but a deadly one to most.
