"Mommy what happened to your face?"  The little boy asks seeing the black eye on his mother's sweet face, despite being very young he already knew about his parents' fights, he understood that when his father arrived drunk he needed to go to his room and hide and only leave when his mother called him.

The little boy's mother was like an angel, she was a sweet, caring and understanding woman and above all very protective.

He loved how the woman made him feel loved and special.  The little boy felt affection in his mother's every gesture, whether when he finished the bath and she came to dry his hair, or when he asked about how it was at school.  She didn't cook very well but everything in the eyes of little vegas was good because it was made with love, but he didn't understand why his father hurt her so much that he did it so well.

It was a Friday night, the little boy was finishing his dinner accompanied by his mother who was clearly restless, said to have a bad feeling.  As soon as the boy finished his dinner the woman put her hand on the little face of the son making a caress and said in a calm and sweet tone "I need you to go to the room and stay in your secret hiding place until I tell you to leave" the boy agrees going to the bedroom.  As soon as he entered he heard his father's voice seem slower and more slurred.  So the boy hid.

He could hear his father screaming, calling his mother useless, saying that she was not a good mother, that she was a whore and that she should have stayed in the brothel.

It was then that the boy heard a scream from his mother, followed by his father, and a very loud bang, and then... silence.  There was nothing to hear for four hours, then the boy hears the door being opened and closed.  Someone had left.

The boy came out of where he was hiding and was sneaking around the house.  The boy was scared and needed his safe haven, his angel, he needed his mother.

But when he arrives at the kitchen, he finds his mother lying on her stomach, lying in a can of blood.  In shock, the boy approached carefully, knelt in the blood and began to softly call out to his mother in the hope that the mother would respond.  But that didn't happen, the boy then taken by fear and despair began to cry and scream for his mother while hugging the lifeless body on the floor.

Soon a neighbor heard the desperate screams of the child calling for the mother and went to see what happened, entering the house she was faced with the horrible scene.

Soon she called the emergency room looking for help, while the boy repeated to help his mother.

Currently vegas is a grown man who can never forgive himself for what happened, his mother always visits him in dreams and this ends up making him unable to sleep.  He thinks she hasn't forgiven him for what happened, he doesn't forgive himself either, he broods over the pain day after day.

The woman was the ray of sunshine that brightened his day.  But now it's all gray...or at least it used to be.

Vegas wasn't stupid and had already noticed the cold war that was going on between tawan and pete.

It's been a week since this started, and pete ended up getting used to the vegas way he's still not as fearless as tawan, to hug and kiss vegas affectionately.  But he doesn't like to see tawan doing that, he felt weird seeing it, sometimes vegas would smile and play with tawan making them look like a couple in soap operas.

Poor pete, little did he know it was done on purpose, vegas wanted to see his reactions, and of course the jealousy.

But that day was different, the day of his mother's death.

Vegas spent the day in his room looking at the pictures he had of her.  Pete was worried since vegas had stayed in the room all day and didn't eat anything, as pete had no room in the house he slept on the couch.

He was woken up by the kitchen light that had been turned on, he sat on the couch watching Vegas get a glass of two bottles of Jack Daniel's.  His eyes were red and swollen, when he saw that he had woken up Pete just said "I'm sorry" and went towards the balcony sitting on the floor and drinking.

Pete got up from the couch wrapped in his blanket and went to keep him company.

"Pete... have you ever seen someone you love die?"  Vegas asks after finishing his sixth glass, and Pete just shakes his head "so I'll tell you what it's like" he pours another glass "it's like torture, with wounds that never heal."  He speaks with a look full of sadness directed at Pete, who feels his heart ache seeing the fragility of an apparently strong man.  "I'm a monster pete, everything I love... leaves me" soon ends with the drink of the glass and then proceeds to fill it again.

But this time he was prevented from taking it because Pete held his hand, taking the glass from his hand.  "let me help you vegas, let me try to heal you and you don't have to love me back if you want to" pete says approaching him putting a part of the blanket over his shoulders to protect him from the cold of dawn.  "I don't know how to cook like tawan, or know his tastes like he does. But I recognize his flaws vegas and accept them" vegas listened intently to every word that came out of pete's mouth.  Pete's mouth was the most beautiful thing in Vegas right now, every word, every move.  And that's what made him get closer and closer to the boy to the point that he could feel their lips touching, it was a tender and loving kiss.

When they pulled away they stared at each other for a while, Pete felt like that was a yes to his question.  Soon they looked to the horizon and saw the beautiful sunrise.

"Come on, you need to get some sleep" pete says getting up seeing vegas accompany him.  Pete takes the bottle and glass to the kitchen as Vegas heads towards the hallway, then Pete makes his way towards the sofa "hey you're not coming" Vegas asks.  Pete wasn't sure if it was a good idea to go to sleep with Vegas, Pete was wanting to give him some space, but he went anyway.

He walked into the bedroom and closed the curtains while vegas went to brush his teeth to get the liquor smell out.  When he returned to the room he saw that Pete had gathered the photos that were on the floor, without asking anything he just put them in the bedside table and lay down, soon being accompanied by vegas who let himself be hugged.

That day his mother didn't visit, and Pete felt his heart was in the right place.
