Car rides were never as boring to Bronya as most people would say they were. She liked to pretend the whole world was behind her, as well as her struggles and worries. Every tree or building that passed her would be another problem gone, and it was almost relaxing to her. The girl leaned back into the car seat as she observed the trees passing by. Since Bronya was only fifteen, she couldn't drive. Well, technically she could, but what's the fun in having to bring someone older with her to drive? Besides, Kiana brought her to all the fun spots anyways. Even though she was not the most law-abiding driver, Bronya trusted her enough to know she wouldn't get in an accident, even though she regularly went over the speed limit, and would sometimes go into road rage. Bronya didn't mind at all; she actually thought it was a bit humorous seeing the white-haired girl get angry and lean onto the steering wheel.
After a couple of minutes on the road, the trees soon turned into buildings as they approached the city. The two girls were headed towards St. Freya. Bronya was excited to see Mei again. They haven't seen each other since she was too busy with her schoolwork. The darker-haired girl took her work very seriously. Kiana did as well, but she let herself goof off before finals. Instructor Himeko would always get onto her about the missing papers she had due, but she would always hand them in a couple of hours after being lectured. Sometimes, Bronya would hear Kiana getting scolded by the instructor through phone calls. Her problem, Bronya guessed.
The city's tall skyscrapers had always fascinated Bronya. Just to think humanity worked together on this massive project many times over. A city must take so many parts to function, and most people don't think twice about it. She always wanted to build buildings like the ones she sees everywhere, but she knew nobody would take her seriously. The girl knew that if she was this short at fifteen, she wouldn't be much taller as an adult. She's been told by many people her chubby cheeks might not go away that much in adulthood. Kiana does love poking at them, so that's a plus.
They soon pulled into a parking lot. She instantly recognized Mei's car. Bronya pointed towards the car. "Do you see it? That one right there," She said, trying to direct Kiana.
"Oh, yeah I see it. We haven't seen her in a while," The white-haired girl sighed, "Phone calls don't really fulfill my needs in our relationship." Kiana pouted and parked the truck. She honked the car horn once, Bronya assumed it was to make sure Mei noticed them. There was no way she wouldn't anyway. The truck was made to be extra loud, so nobody could miss it. Bronya unplugged her phone from the charger and put her hand on the door handle. She stopped herself from opening it before asking something.
"Are you guys official yet? I've heard both of you talk about it, but I still don't know." Bronya looked over at Kiana, and she had a shocked expression on her face. She turned over to the silver-haired girl and grabbed her shoulders. Kiana's cheeks were a bit pink.
"Did I seriously forget to tell you? Oh my god... This is one of the reasons I hate my bad memory. Yes! We are official, finally!" She clapped her hands, "We do need to hurry, she might leave without us. You know how she is, I don't know how I put up with her..." The door was opened up and Kiana hopped out. Bronya did the same a couple seconds after.
Bronya was very glad they were actually together now. The girl had always noticed how they looked at each other as if they were the only thing in sight. She is never going to have to hear Kiana moping and whining about every single thing that the older girl did. She was sort of surprised she hadn't heard anything from Mei in regards to their relationship being official, but then again, Kiana probably said she would tell the big news.
She would never admit it out loud to anyone, not even Cocolia, but she envied the way they loved each other. She didn't feel this way because she liked one of them romantically, that would be weird. It is more of a want to be loved unconditionally. Bronya knew deep down that the chances of that happening were low. She barely got out and met people. Most of the people she knew were just teachers and a small number of people from St. Freya. Even if she did have a soulmate, the chances of meeting them in this universe are slim. Bronya doesn't believe in them anyways. Some people get along better than others, what's the big deal about it?
