Captain Ziinuuvitas was the leader of the Midian rebel cell, commanding an old and highly modified freighter, the Basilisk, which used to belong to her father, Zijethrotas, the ruler of their home-world during the former Republic, and who used the ship for many diplomatic travels across the galaxy.
The thing about Midian, a small planet on the edge of the Mid-Rim, is that everyone fiercely opposed the Galactic Empire when it first aroused, mainly due to the good relationships between the small world and both Naboo and Alderaan, which shared similar forms of government. But unlike the other two, Midian was very small and isolated, with no major hyperspace lanes crossing the lonely system in that sector, and so the Empire made an early example out of them: The Long Night.
Few were the people who knew about it, the Empire had a good propaganda machine and controlled all the media; for most people it was old-wives' tale, just like the Jedi, a story to whisper in the dark, or a joke.
The Long Night, as it became known among the few survivors: Hundreds of Star Destroyers bombarding the surface of the planet, for days without end until time was lost and the days were no more. Smoke from the widespread firestorms and dust filled the atmosphere of Midian, the only inhabited planet of that system. The endless chaos injected soot into the stratosphere, where it blocked direct sunlight from reaching the surface, covering the sun and trapping them in eternal night.
The cold came soon after, of course, and even if Midian had been a cold planet with snowy mountains and a vast tundra in the south hemisphere, nothing could have prepared the surviving Midians (or Midiannites) for such a severe, planet-wide drop in temperature. The few survivors escaped once the Imperial Fleet withdrew from their orbit, and Midian was gone.
Ziinuuvitas and the remaining loyalists with her, formed a small rebel cell that begun operating soon after, in the year 7AFE, and after only two years of operations, the young girl was leading them into missions. By the year 14AFE, The Basilisk had joined forces in secrecy with Bail Organa and all the Basilisk's missions were now under the Anti-Insurgent Radar of the Empire, making her one of the youngest captains of the rebellion, and one of the youngest Most Wanted.
Of course, the name Basilisk wasn't just empty threat. Like the mythical beast, no one ever saw the ship until it was too late; one look, and the enemy was dead, such was the combat skill and stealth capacity of that squad. And naturally, the rebels behind the Basilisk were nameless and faceless, and the bureaucratic chaos of the Empire couldn't follow the clues. They were feared, and the youngest Wanted (until Ezra Bridger and Sabine Wren made the Hit List) was nothing but a blurred holo-security image of a helmed female body where the aurebesh words <<CAPTAIN OF THE BASILISK, 23 years old female humanoid.>> could be read.
It was a good thing that no one knew the fate of Zijethrotas's daughter. Princess Ziinuuvitas was considered dead like her father and forgotten like the rest of her house, erased from the archives and history. She was now free to walk the cities of the planets and to use her name on occasion. After all, Ziinuuvitas was a 38-year-old woman by the time she died, so a younger girl couldn't be her.
What people didn't know, is that her family aged differently: 50 years old for them was the equivalent of a 28 year old human, give or take, in appearance, and they were known to live longer lives than humans in average. Much longer.
Besides that, they all had the distinctive pale white skin and red pupils, with black hair either with a little blue or purple highlight, the latter her case.
Ziinuuvitas has been raised by a friend of the family, a doctor, for most of her life. Even as a child, she remembers him visiting often due to a chronic sickness of the blood she had. She didn't know what it was because her species was rare and the disease was only known to them, but she remembers taking injections every month for it. Besides the extreme paleness, her eyes were always irritated, the sclera brightly crimson like her pupils, and her body temperature was low.
