"My name is (Y/n) (L/n). I have no idea who'll hear this, but I figured you'd need to know my name first and foremost. If you are Japanese and do not speak English, I apologise.
*A crackle happens as the VHS tape hits pause, resuming after a moment of silence*
"Get a translator. This could be your lucky break to get millions yknow? A documented history and biography of myself. It doesn't sound too intriguing, perhaps a hit egotistical, but it's not everyday you have a stranger from another world waking up here. Especially one that does not know Japanese and is in Japan.
"Well, other world may be a stretch, but the most simplistic answer is time travel. That was my first educated guess actually, the only thing is I don't have anything to power the equivalent of a Blackhole to temporarily bend time and space to fling me back in time. That'll be a good discovery for you too. Wow, I'm just making you a ton of money huh?
"Anyways I managed to find a... post office of some sort and swapped some coins I had into yen, and bought a butt load of these cassette tapes. And a notebook, pen, and pencil incase the cassettes fail me. I'll document my journey one way or another.
"I don't know how I got here. I woke up in the middle of a street bench within the night. The closest thing near me was my wallet and the remains of an apple core.
*Another crackle, signifying another pause in the recording*
"I figured out I was in Japan very quickly because of the language and my extremely limited Japanese skills. The back in time and/or another world bit... was trickier.
"At first I didn't take note, but as I had spent the day walking around, everyone was using old flip phones. And based on the limited numbers on the newspapers within the stands, it was about 1998? I don't know when exactly, but somewhere in this year.
"The real kicker about this? Without mirrors, I hadn't noticed a change, but everytime I tried talking to an adult they uses the same tone of voice towards me. I had thought it was because I spoke english and not Japanese, but I passed by a clear shop window and hour ago and had a right shock. I seemed to have reverted back to my 12 year old body. Rather annoying, but it'll have to do.
"Makes this documentary I'm doing a little more worth while huh? Don't get me wrong, I know I have to be careful. I Realised I Might Die Here.

"This first tape will be quite short, there's not much for me to really record other than how lost I am. Oh! Speaking of being lost- I belive I'm in an older version of Tokyo. The buildings seem similar, just without the neon billboards. Perhaps a little less crowded? The few English words on the train station signs suggest so too. So, in a sense, I'm not lost lost.
"Well, anyways, I'll be signing off for the day to try and find something to eat. I'll write in my diary daily about everything, but if something super important happens and I need to say my thoughts, I'll record it in my bucket of tapes.
"This is (Y/n) (L/n), signing off their first day in a strange world."
