"Do any of you know the stories of the threads of fate?" I asked my class as I wrote on the chalkboard, I turned around and saw multiple hands go up, I called on a female student "yes anxi" she stood up "it's a story of threads that connect to people together, like fate" she said I nodded "correct" I said, she sat back down and I put my hands behind my back "but do you know how many variations of this story there is?" The class collectively shook there heads "there are multiple different versions of this story the most popular and well known one being the Japanese version of the tale, where the two fated people are connected by a red thread on their left pinkie finger, it's been used in multiple forms of media, books and photo-shoots" I turned around writing soulmates in big letters on the board

"This red thread legend has multiple variations, in the Chinese legend the thread is tied around the fated pairs ankles, there is also a legend where there is multiple threads connecting different parts of one persons soul, red for lovers, purple for friendship, blue for family, yellow for business etc." I saw some hands raise up "before you all ask a soul mate is more then just a lover" then hands went down "a soul mate is like a best friend but more, the one person that knows you better then anybody maybe even yourself. This may involve similarity, love, romance, platonic relationships, comfort, intimacy, sexuality, sexual activity, spirituality, compatibility, trust, it's not always romantic" more hands went up "a soulmate is not limited to someone of the opposite gender, a soulmate can be your same gender or a different gender" the hands again went down "and once you are given a soulmate that feeling, that mutual connection will stay the same even if you and your soulmate die and are reborn multiple times" I looked at the class
