Isabelles POV:

So there I was, laying on the floor with wet salty tears running down my face. I couldn't do this anymore. I felt too weak to move or even speak. Every part of my body ached in pain as I just laid there recalling the event that just occurred. My husband coming home drunk, him getting angry at my 6 month old son Isaac crying, me defending my little boy and then getting beat up.

After processing what happened I pushed my upper body to get up. Putting both my palms on the cold hard ground for support. I sighed heavily as I pressed my bruised back on the rusted walls making me wince in pain. I wiped my tears and slowly got up. The house seemed so quiet. I slowly started looking around to see my son sleeping peacefully on the couch. I smiled as I looked at his pretty dirty blond hair, chubby rosy cheeks and little pink lips. I was relieved when I noticed there was no sign of injuries on his body or face. He's my only source of happiness in this miserable world. Aside from my lovely Grandma, Mary and my courageous friend Brianna.

I picked him up slowly, as to not awaken Samuel, my drunk husband, who fell asleep after beating me. I then slowly tip toed to the bedroom door, where my poor excuse of a husband was passed out with a bottle of alcohol in his right hand. I gently placed Isaac in his crib and covered him with a blanket.

How can someone sleep so peacefully after hurting a women trying to protect her child?

I walk into to the kitchen to start cooking and released a heavy sigh that I didn't know I was holding. I quietly took out the chicken from the freezer and took out a large pot to wash it in. While washing them I started thinking about how I ended up here in this rotten household with this horrible man.

I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't even notice that the one I was cursing under my breath was standing right behind me. I snapped back to my thoughts when I felt breathing on my neck and cold hands trailing my waist. I bit my lips trying as hard as I can not to cry.

"You're so pretty when you're not talking."

I felt him smirk behind me. He reaked of alcohol and cigarettes. He slowly started tracing kisses down my blue and purple neck. I instantly tensed up, shutting my eyes titely and held my breath as I tried not to let out a whimper. I didn't want to satisfy him. He's not getting what he wants from me. Unsatisfied he turned me around so I can face him and slapped me across the face. I stood there holding my right cheek while tears ran down my already bruised face. I closed my eyes and tried to numb the pain.

When I opened them I saw that he was no longer standing in front of me. I continued making dinner, by seasoning and rinsing the rice and then putting the fully seasoned chicken in the oven, all while sobbing quietly.

I walked out of the kitchen with a tray of rice with a side of a few chicken legs and a glass of cold cola with ice in it. Just how he likes it.

On my way to the living room I saw him sitting on the couch with the TV on. His right ankle on his knee and laughing historically at the show he was watching as if it was the funniest thing in the world. I slowly walked to the edge of the door and stood still, too scared to move. I turned my head to the right and looked at the broken mirror hanging on the wall. A few pieces are broken and there was shattered glass on the floor.

That's when I noticed my small frame on the broken glass. I was unrecognisable. My soft brunette locks
are tied up in a messy bun after I haven't brushed them for days. My brown eyes are swollen from all the crying and my left eye, which is now the colour of purple, blue and yellow. I traced all my features looking at my swollen red busted lips, all down to my severely bruised neck. I traced my eyes on all the fingerprints and cuts he left all over my arms, face and body.

I was so...shocked..when did it get this bad? Still holding the tray I snapped my head to the direction of the angry raspy voice coming from the living room.

"What the f#ck are you doing standing over there with my food?"

I stood still at the sound of the man a few steps away from me.

"Did you not f#cking hear me!? I said come here!"

I was still too shocked to move. But not for too long.

"YOU B#TCH! COME HERE RIGHT THIS F#CKING INSTINCT!!"

His screaming scared me so much I quickly started walking to him and set the tray of the now cold food on the small table infront of him.

He looked at me and then at the food.

"Eat", he commanded.

I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion as I took a spoonful of the rice I made and popped it in my mouth. I chewed slowly as he watched.

Seriously? Married for 2 years and he thinks I'm going to poison him? If I wanted to, I would've been in jail by now for committing the crime.

He looked at me while raising the plate of rice and took a spoonful and then put his attention back to the TV.

I could now see what he was watching. Barely clothed women on some game show.

I sighed quietly and walked to where my little boy was sleeping. Seeing him still fast asleep I decided to take a nap, while my so called husband is distracted by the television. I lay on the bed, which is close to my little boys crib and close my eyes, breathing the cool fresh air coming from the window outside.

Breath....breath....just...breath...
