(Year 839, Wall Rose)
"Listen up shitstains! My name is Commandant Alexander Freed!" The roar of the Commandant sounded across the rows of fresh faced cadets. "You all think you're here so you can live the easy life in the interior for the next three years? Well you have another thing coming if that's what you think!" He stalked past several of the new recruits who all stiffened up severely when he so much as glanced at them.
"I am going to make the next three years of your lives a living hell in this place. It will be so bad it'll make the Titans outside Wall Maria look like a picnic compared to what I'll put each and every one of you through!"
The Commandant shifted his gaze to some of the others in the back rows who were trying to actively avoid his gaze, sending the fear of god right through them in an instant.
"If any one of you measly maggots manage to survive my training you'll get to call yourself a soldier. I however, after combing through you all so far, don't hold out much hope of that actually happening."
The Commandant then started moving through the rows of cadets, picking on anyone that even looked the slightest bit terrified of him, shouting at them so loud their ears would start ringing, not even wiping away any residue of spit that flew out of his mouth and onto their faces, although he had yet to comment on anyone's salute yet, as it seemed there was indeed something that the whole lot of them were good at.
"Stop trying to look serious maggot! Give me your name!"
"Y/N Ackerman from Wall Maria, Sir!"
"Ackerman, as in the Ackermans that betrayed the King when humanity fled into the walls?" The Commandant's voice went eerily quiet with the revelation that he had just thrust upon Y/N and the surrounding cadets close enough to hear him. "The very same one, yeah?"
"I-I don't know Sir." Y/N tried not to react to whatever the Commandant said. He knew that he, his father mother and sister, had been persecuted their whole lives, driven out of the towns at every opportunity, that's why they lived near the mountains, but he had never known the real reason why it had happened to them.
"You don't know?" The Commandant posed it as a question, yet Y/N remained smart enough to not actually give him an answer.
"How many Kings have ruled over the Walls Cadet Ackerman?"
"F-Four, Sir."
"Then how about you give me a hundred push-ups for every King that your family spat in the face of!" The Commandant roared into Y/N's face. "For every hour that goes by that you haven't completed them that's a month of no meat rations! Do you understand me?"
"Sir, Yes Sir!" Y/N responded, the look of pure despair coming on to his face at the thought of having to do more than ten push-ups in a row.
"Then get started right there!" The Commandant roared at him after he hadn't started immediately. "You." He then looked at the girl stood next to Y/N. She looked terrified the way the Commandant spoke to her, with her short blonde hair standing on edge with every word that was spat out his mouth. "Count every last one, if he cheats I'll take away your rations too."
It took Y/N three and a half hours to finally finish all four hundred push-ups, in fact, he hd a hundred done before the first hour, but it was absolute torture after that. His arms burned with every pushup he managed to do after the hundredth one, having to lay on the ground in agony while the Commandant had the others doing minuscule amounts of repetitions compared to what he was having to do on his own.
