A witch?! Witches are pirates' biggest enemies. I needed a moment to myself. "Ruby dear, why don't you go play in your room?" I said, trying to get a break for myself. "Okay, Mom." She replied, running off to her room.
That night, I sat motionless on my bed, hands supporting my head. My husband, Brendan walked in. "What's wrong, my love?" He sat down next to me. "Is it Ruby? I know, she's hard to deal with. It'll be okay, my love." He consoled me. My husband was such a soft person. I was really grateful he chose me, a basic, boring girl. "Ruby...she told me that she wants to be a witch. Gosh, I don't know what to do with her." Brendan didn't say a word.
"I'll talk to her." He stood up and left the room. "You're meant to be a pirate! Don't tell me you want to be a witch!" I heard my husband shouting from her room, followed by the cries of my daughter.
