WHAT THE HELL?﹏︎﹏︎﹏︎﹏︎﹏︎﹏︎﹏︎﹏︎﹏︎﹏︎
SHE HAD ONLY BEEN GONE FOR ABOUT AN HOUR. She was sure of it. But when she had opened her apartment's door, she realized something strange.
Things were moved around in her apartment.
It was subtle, some things moved an inch or two from their usual spot. It was hardly noticeable, but it was enough.
The most significant thing, however, was finding Mr. Bitey being pet by Ghostface in the living room.
(F/N) stopped in her tracks, gaping at the sight. It was so out of nowhere it could have been comical had there not been a blade in the free hand of the killer. Luckily, no harm appeared to have come to Mr. Bitey.
(F/N) felt her heart drop at the sight. The blade was far from the feline, but that didn't mean in a split second that couldn't change. (F/N) took a nervous step back. Then, Ghostface turned their head to point at her. It was only when she took another step that they snapped into action.
The killer burst towards her. The girl staggered back, immediately rushing away from the quick figure and down the hall. As she ran, she heard their steps from behind her. Why were they so fast?
Her apartment looped around, so theoretically, she could have run in circles forever.
That was, if she didn't trip when her foot smacked the side of a door that was for some reason open. (F/N) stumbled, falling to the floor and landing with a groan as she smacked her head on the floor.
She raised her head, feeling an ache in the skin. On the ground, she saw a short streak of blood. She started scrambling when she saw the shadow behind her. She couldn't help it. The desire was too strong.
(F/N) turned around. The girl looked up at the figure since she was still on the floor. Ghostface only continued to stalk towards her. She held her breath, looking around the room. There was no exit besides the short, closed window.
She could feel her heart skip a beat as Ghostface advanced to her, standing right before her. She found herself unable to move, stuck like a deer in headlights. Ghostface then crouched, their face peering closer to her own. Her breathing stopped as a knife slowly inched towards her stomach, and her back arched like a cat to avoid it.
Luckily the blade halted a few centimeters from her skin.
(F/N) looked up to the killer's mask, trying to find the killer's eyes with her frightened ones. But it was too dark, and she didn't know if they made eye contact or not. She assumed not because the next she knew the killer was reaching forward, one hand moving up to her face while the other held the knife steady.
It was difficult to keep still as she tried not to stab herself with the knife. Especially when Ghostface's fingers made contact with her head lightly brushing the skin around the inflicted wound she had gotten when she tripped.
A small huff escaped Ghostface's lips before they slowly took the knife away. Was it a trick? Were they still going to stab her? Heavy breathing came from the mask, and (F/N) didn't move, frozen by fear.
Ghostface stood up, walking to the door. The person turned around, facing her, and for a moment she thought that they were going to change their mind and kill her anyway. But Ghostface simply turned back to the door, leaving her alone in the room with a freezing feeling.
And then, she couldn't hold it in.
(F/N) let out a loud, petrified, "What the fuck?!"

The police station was the next stop. After doing a sweep of her apartment and finding no DNA of the killer, she was starting to feel crazy.
The Chief in front of her seemed just as perplexed as he informed, "We've seen these stalking patterns before with Ghostface, but he's never shown himself to a supposed victim and let them live."
(F/N) tightened her lips, reminding, "I've seen him before."
The other officer standing in the room crossed his arms, "But you're saying that he broke into your apartment, threatened you, and then left."
She sunk into her seat slightly, "I don't get why I'd be the exception."
The two officers shared a glance, "If we're being honest, we don't either," the Chief admitted.
"We're kind of at a loss." The other officer added.
(F/N) stared at them, fear gripping her chest tight as she took in a breath. After a few seconds she managed, "Is there anything you can do to help me?"
A silence filled the room as the officers thought deeply. And then, it hit the younger officer, "What about Greg?"
The Chief furrowed his eyebrows, turning to the man in bewilderment, "What about him?"
"He needs an assignment." The officer waved a hand towards (F/N), "Maybe he could follow her around?"
The Chief contemplated it for a moment, slowly nodding his head, "That could work...How would you feel with a bodyguard?"
A bodyguard could scare off any attempt Ghostface made, but she didn't know how she felt about having a stranger around her at all times, "Could I meet him first?"
"Yeah." The Chief nodded, "Of course, we wouldn't want to make you uncomfortable."
The other officer grinned, "Beware the dad jokes."
(F/N) managed a small smile, "I will."
The Chief ordered, "Just go get him."
"Yes sir."
