chapter three - the barrens and the new kid

Maeva was tired of life. She wanted to die instead of her younger brother, but she couldn't do that. Not when she has her friend group. She went to her room, took her mp3, and just listened to Kate Bush. Her favorite song is Babooshka.

, Uh, Mae. Do you want to go to the Barrens?" Bill asked Maeva.

, What did you say?" Maeva said, she didn't hear him through her headphones.

, If you wanted to go to the Barrens?" Bill asked again. , Yeah, sure" Maeva smiled at her brother.

, Take everything but the Delicious Deals, guys. My mom loves them. Hey! First, you said the Barrens and now you're saying the sewer. I mean, what if we get caught?" Eddie asked Bill. , We won't, Eds. The sewers are public works. We're the public, aren't we?" Bill said. , I'm with Bill on this one" Maeva smirked.

, Hey, Eddie, these your birth control pills?" Richie asked Eddie. , Yeah, and I'm saving it for your sister. This is private stuff" Eddie said. The group walked out of the kitchen to the hallway.

, Eddie Bear, where you guys off to in such a rush?" Eddie's mom asked. , Um... Just my backyard, Mrs. K. I got a new..." Bill stopped himself, not knowing what to say next. , A new croquet set. Jeez, spit out, Bill!" Richie said, and Maeva punched his shoulder.

, Okay. Oh, and sweetie, don't go rolling around on the grass. Especially if it's just been cut. You know how bad your allergies can get" Eddie's mom said. , Yes, mom. Let's go" Eddie said to his friends but stopped himself when he heard his mother.

, Aren't you forgetting something?" His mom asked. Eddie knew that Richie and Maeva will not let this go. Eddie kissed his mom's cheek and Richie with Maeva was trying not to laugh. , Do you want for me too, Mrs. K?", Can I get one too? I'm a good kisser.

, No, no no" Eddie said and pushed both of them out. , We were kidding!" Both of them said. , Sorry mommy".

The group was riding towards the sewers, Bill being in front and Stanley last. 

, Slow down!", Hi-ho, Silver! Away!"

, Your old lady bike's too fast for us!" Richie shouted at Bill. , I hate your bike, Billy!" Maeva shouted at Bill too.

 , That's poison ivy. And that's poison ivy. And that's poison ivy.", Where? Where's the poison ivy?" Eddie asked Stanley. , Nowhere. Not every fucking plant is poison ivy, Stanley" Richie said.

, Okay, I'm starting to get itchy now, and I'm pretty sure this is not good for my..." Eddie said, but he was cut off by Richie. , Do you use the same bathroom as your mother?" Richie asked him. , Sometimes, yeah.", Then you probably have crabs.", That's so not funny."

, Oh, but it is Eds" Maeva smirked, walking into the shitty water. , Aren't you guys coming in?" Richie asked. , Uh-uh. It's greywater.", What the hell's greywater?" Richie and Maeva asked. , It's basically piss and shit. So I'm just telling you, you guys are splashing around in millions of gallons of Derry pee. So... Are you serious? What are you..." Eddie said and then cut himself off when he saw Richie smelling a stick.

, Doesn't smell like caca to me, senor." Richie said, with an awful accent. , Okay, I can smell that from here.", Don't be dramatic Eds" Maeva smirked. , It's probably just your breath wafting back into your face" Richie said.

, Have you ever heard of a staph infection?" Eddie asked. , God, you are like an old married couple" Maeva chuckled, but she was ignored. , Oh, I'll show you a staff infection" Richie said and grabbed something with his stick.

, This is so unsanitary. You're literally... This is literally like swimming inside of a toilet bowl right now. Have you ever heard of Listeria?" Eddie said but yelled when Richie threw the thing at him.

, Are you retarted? You're the reason we're in this position right now", Guys!" Bill cut Eddie off when he shouted at them.  And then he pointed at a shoe in his hand. , Shit. Don't tell me that's..." Stanley started. , No. Georgie wore galoshes" Bill said. 

, Who's sneaker is it?" Richie asked and he and Maeva looked at the name in the shoe. , It's Betty Ripsom's" Maeva mumbled, looking at the name. , Oh, shit. Oh, God. Oh, fuck! I don't like this" Eddie said. , How do you think Betty feels? Running around these tunnels with only one frickin' shoe?" Richie said and laughed a little. , Richie... No" Maeva said and shook her head. , Sorry, Eva" Richie said, looking at the ground

, What if she's still there?" Stanley asked the group. , Eddie c'mon!" Richie called after Eddie. , My mom will have an aneurysm, if she finds out we're playing down here. I'm serious" Eddie said. Maeva went to stand next to Stanley, her favorite song playing through the headphones that she had around her neck.

, Bill?"

, If... If I was Betty Ripsom, I would want us to find me... Georgie too" Bill said. Making Maeva teared up a bit.

, What if I don't want to find them? I mean no offense, Bill, Mae. But I don't want to end up like..." Eddie said but he cut himself off. , Just say it Eds" Maeva said and scoffed. , I don't wanna go missing either" Eddie added. , He has a point" Staley said, kinda agreeing with Eddie. , You too?" Bill asked. , It's summer. We're supposed to be having fun. This isn't fun. This is scary and disgusting" Stanley said, and out of nowhere the new kid popped out, making everyone look at him.

, Holy shit! What happened to you?" Richie asked and Eddie, Stanley and Maeva make their way after the beat up boy.
