The scene begins with a tight shot of a pool of black slime in the middle of a terrain that is dark red and purple. A big paw emerges from the slime, followed by a Beowolf crawling out, slime falling off of it and into the ground. The camera pans out to see multiple similar pools and a large number of Beowolves emerging. It pushes out farther and further, revealing a largely gloomy and dismal landscape made up of crimson ground, purple crystals, and a red and black overcast sky. Mercury Black and Emerald Sustrai are reflected in a window, looking from within a tall structure, while the image shimmers. Emerald holds her hand to her mouth, and Mercury is visibly appalled. A gloved hand emerges and snaps its fingers between two purple crystal forms. A wide shot exposes a vast windowed room with a long purple, crystal table in the middle. The table seats four persons and has seven chairs. Cinder Fall is one of them. Emerald and Mercury make their way away from the window. A close-up of the man sitting across from Cinder, Arthur Watts, is shown. He is studying his Scroll. Tyrian Callows is the man to Cinder's right. He sits in a squat on his chair, arms resting on his knees. Hazel Rainart stands across from Tyrian. His arms are folded, and he seems to be sleeping. Cinder sits peacefully, as Mercury and Emerald approach her. Emerald nudges Mercury out of the way so she may stand close to Cinder.Watts: Yes, yes, please keep your posse in check.
Mercury grunts and lunges at Watts, but Emerald stops him.
Watts: You hear that? Silence.
Watts gets a sideways look from Hazel.
Watts: I'm considering thanking that traitor for putting you in your place.
Tyrian: If I were you, I'd hunt him down. (snicker) Find him and, well, he did take your eye, arm, and leg....
Cinder merely looks at Tyrian, who cackles at her. Cinder attempts to talk but can only emit soft exhaling sounds. Emerald leans forward to hear what she's saying.
Watts: Pathetic. Why did you even—
The sound of a heavy metal door being unlatched may be heard. The doors open, and everyone gathers right as Salem walks in. She walks softly beside the table, gems jingling from her hair, till she reaches the head of it. Salem comes to a halt, her gaze drawn away from them and onto a candle and crystal arrangement.
Watts: Salem
Watts straightens up and turns to face her.
Salem: (turning) Do you believe that such malignance is necessary?
She motions for everyone to take a seat.
Watts: Please accept my apologies, ma'am. I'm not particularly fond of failure.
Watts and Salem are both seated at the same time.
Salem: Perhaps we're being too harsh on Cinder. I'm sure she's fully aware of her utter failure.
Cinder gasps as ominous shadows encircle her seat; she is locked rigid as the shadows gradually reach to her shoulder level; she is obliged to take a bow. Emerald and Mercury slowly back up, their expressions filled with apprehension. Cinder nods furiously, and the dark empress flicks her fingers, sending the shadows back into the castle walls in an unsettling way. Salem clasps her hands together, her gaze tightening at Cinder, who continues to bow.
Watts: That man, on the other hand, piques my attention; there's no profile on him for me to see; he's skilled, unpredictable, and, to make matters worse, he knows everything that will happen. He's unlike anything we've ever seen.
Salem: that does not matter. All that matters is that he is to be dealt with..
Hazel: Would it be wise to pursue him? one of ours struggle against him
