The scorching heat of the sun burned my skin as I stepped out of the orphanage. With my bag and tumbler on hand, I was ready to go to school when a voice of a kid called me.
"Won!" the kid shouted from afar and I saw Dylan running towards me.
"Hey kiddo." I greeted him with a wide smile.
"Are you going to school again?" the kid asked and I nodded before patting his head. "But I thought you're done with school last summer?" he added and showed me a pout.
"Dylan, it's just a summer break. Brother Won has to go to school." I cooed and he pouted even more.
"But you said you're done!" he whined even more as he played with my ID lace.
"I am done for the 6th grade. I'm now on the 7th grade." I carefully explained but he was not having any of my explanations.
"Why do you have to go to school? Is it because of the fairy lady?" the kid asked and I smiled at him before nodding my head.
He's right. The orphanage cannot afford for everyone to go to school. Yes, there are public or state schools but it's different and you're lucky if one of the sponsors of the orphanage chose you to be their scholar.
Actually there are many scholars here in the orphanage. Some of them are already in college taking Engineering, Architecture, Law and some are even future doctors.
It's amazing how people of high status are willing to share their wealth just to help an orphan in need. I am beyond grateful to Miss Park for giving me a chance to study in the same school where his sons go.
Though I haven't met Miss Park yet since she decided to give me a scholarship 2 years ago plus the fact that I'm a transferee here in this new school for my high school life, but I constantly take pictures of my grades periodically and have it sent to her via email or whatever means we have in the orphanage.
"How many years until you finish studying?" Dylan, the youngest kid we have in the orphanage asked.
"Hmm... Maybe 9 more years?" I replied and his eyes widened in shock.
"9 years!? That's too long!" he whined. "I want my playmate back!" he demanded and I just laughed before looking at Zephy - one of the volunteers and in-charge in the orphanage.
"Miss Zephy, I'm sorry but I have to go." I started and she just smiled before holding Dylan's shoulders. "Dylan, brother Won has to go already. I still have classes to attend to."
"Hmmp!" he cutely pouted and I just smiled before disheveling his hair.
"Be a good boy here, okay? I'll be back in the afternoon."
"Okay..." he replied in a defeated tone. "No girls, okay!" Dylan shouted and I let out a hearty laugh before agreeing with him.
With that, I waved goodbye at the little kid that I consider as my little brother before going straight to the gate.
It took me half an hour to reach my new school. A black gigantic gate made of metal welcomed me and I swallowed the lump in my throat due to an uneasy feeling.
"You can do this, Jungwon. They're just kids like you." I tried to cheer myself up as I took my first step towards the new school that I'm in.
I tapped my ID on the machine where the students before me did and my name, class and even my picture flashed on the screen just on top of the entrance!
What the fuck! If I had known, I would've at least controlled my smile! I looked so happy to study here when in fact my nerves are in chaos!
"Cutie." said a tall guy behind me. I looked at him and he has that prince-like aura in him. His pointed nose, hawk-like eyes, gray hair and white complexion greeted me altogether as he tapped his ID next. "Freshie?" he asked and I unconsciously nodded.
