Chapter 1 - Amanda's Summer surprise

Steve was sitting in the living room, holding his, and Peggy's adopted 7 year old daughter on his lap. She had a rough day at school, and came home crying. Steve and Peggy were worried that it wasn't helping her mental health. "Amanda what happened at school today," Amanda didn't look at him, she whispered, "I'm being bullied." Steve called Peggy in, and told her what Amanda had said. They pulled her out of school, and decided to homeschool her. Since they pulled her out the day before the last day, her summer started early. She asked Peggy, "mommy since it's summer, may I wear crop-tops?" Peggy looked at her, "Amanda Joy, you are far to young to wear crop tops. When you get older you may, but until then your wearing regular shirts." Mandy sighed, and looked out the window, when she saw a car pull up. "AUNTIE NAT"S HERE!" "Amanda Joy," Steve came into the room, "Do not yell in the house please." "sorry dad," Mandy said. Then she went to open the door for Nat, Nat hugged her, and then handed Steve a letter. Steve read it, and he kissed Peggy, and Mandy, and left with Nat. Mandy was confused, Peggy said, "don't worry daddy'll be back." A few hours later Steve returned, and Mandy was already in bed. He and Peggy went to bed themselves, and the next morning When Mandy woke up, she went out to find that neither parent was awake. She went back to her room, and waited for someone to get up, then she heard a door shut, thinking it was her mom, she left the room. She saw it wasn't her parents, and tried to run back to her room, but the person grabbed her arm, and Mandy scream, "DADDY, MOMMY, HELP!" The person let go, and ran out of the house, but not before Peggy had seen him. She called the police, and reported him. The police came, and Mandy told them everything, when they got the description of the guy, they sent a search party out for the guy. After a few days they caught the guy, and came back to the house to inform them that they had caught the guy. A few days after that Steve, and Peggy both noticed that Amanda was still shaken by the incident, so to take her mind off it, they decided to take her somewhere she'd been begging to go, the Compound. Without saying anything Peggy went into Mandy's room, and told her to get her shoes on, and get into the car. Mandy did but was confused, when they reached the compound, since Mandy had never seen it before she didn't know where they were. Steve asked her, "Amanda, do you know why we left home?" Mandy shook her head, and they went inside, immediately Mandy saw Nat, and Bruce. She exitedily ran, and hugged them, then Steve told her, "sweetie we're at the compound." Mandy hugged him saying, "thank you," Steve told her, "this is to help take your mind off the incident." "What incident," Nat asked, Peggy told her what had happened, and Nat embraced Mandy. Then Tony spoke to Steve alone, and Steve told him it may work out. He then spoke to Peggy, who agreed, then they told Mandy. "Amanda, your moving into the compound with daddy. When daddy goes away for work mommy will come get you." Mandy was excited, and Nat showed her where her room is. "Daddy's right across the hall from you," she said, then they went downstairs, everyone introduced themselves. "Hello everyone, it's nice to meet you, I'm Amanda Rogers-Carter, but I prefer Mandy though." Steve, and Peggy were shocked as she'd never told them that, but they were also glad she'd introduced herself without them prompting her to do so.
